Default Corvette Hood Panels

I know the newer (C5 & C6) vettes can get the underside mirrored hood panels, but does anyone know of someone that can custom make them for a C4 ('94)?

Thanks in advance for your help

Great question!! I have seen some with custom paint jobs but I have not seen one with the mirror yet.

I think if you take to some construction paper and make a template that you could cut some thin glass yourself then use some 3M type adhesive.

If you don't want to cut yourself, take the templates to a glass shop. I would think that it a lot more reasonable and maybe a better fit than a catalog.

I dunno about the tape, tape dont work well with hot or cold in most cases and it dont like the water either. I would think there would be a snap kit or some kind of fastener to hold it up kind of like how they hold house mirrors.

Default C4 Underhood panels

There is a guy that lists them on eBay from time to time. I think he is in Utah. He makes them for C4 & C5 and I think he also does TransAm. They are mirrored stainless if I remember right. They say they are for show only so I expect they must be Velcro or something like that. If you set up a search in the parts area I am sure it will turn up.

Glass panels would not work as the clamshell is flexible enough that glass could shatter and the weight of glass would make the hood heavy to lift and lower.

Polished aluminum or very thin stainless steel would be a much better choice. Individual sheet canbe cut from a template and then trimmed to an exact fit. They can be held in place with double-sided foam tape.

Don't glue the entire surface of the panel to the back side of the hood material. The metal could act as a heat sink and cause paint damage after awhile. Leave a gap for air to circulate and for moisture to drain away.

underhood mirrors

Glass is pretty easy to cut (learned from many years of picture framing when I was a kid)... perhaps get some heavy duty black velcro, use the plastic side under the hood, and the fabric side on the back of the mirrors... then only put them on during car shows. if the backing doesnt hold well under the hood use some epoxy or something stronger to glue it down.

Cut some paper as suggested above to get the dimensions you need, then maybe pickup one of those cheap behind-the-door floor length mirrors from walmart and cut away. if you mess it up, you are only out a few dollars

I bought 6 polished stainless steel panels pre-cut off eBay for $300.. Center piece has a die-cut C4 emblem. Can't seem to get a good picture of all of them in one shot. I have them glued on and leave them on all the time...even during the last 1700 mile (one way) Hot Rod Power Tour along the east coast.

BTTB,

I can't find the paperwork but I'm pretty sure it was Rick Watkins who I got the stainless steel panals from. POPA-VT posted his email address above.

POPA-VT,

I followed the instructions pretty much to the letter that came with the panals but I still ended up using some "Gorilla Glue" as a supplement to hold them on.
