Looking for a fix for my left windshield wiper. It travels to far on the outbound swipe. This has caused some scrapes on the window post on that side. Anyone encounter this problem? the fix?
I bought new blades for my Wife's 92 tonight. I held up one of each of the different vendor's blades the book said fit the car. The longest one was an inch longer than the shortest one. The ones I bought were Tricos and had two mounting holes to choose from. If I had installed the blade using the bottom hole it would have put the tip on the windshield frame. I used the top hole and all is well.
If your blades are these, try using the other hole.
Does the left arm on your car park tightly next to the right one? If it doesn't you could consider removing the arm and replacing it a few degrees to the right. The arm is held onto a splined pin by a retaining clip and is under pressure from the springs.
Turn on the wipers and then turn the key off with the wipers all the way up There is a nut on the wiper where it pivots that will allow you to adjust it
Loosen the nut move the arm and tighten the nut
Sometimes people work on them dont know how they fold up and damage them
At worst you may need an arm
I hope I understand you correctly, when the wiper goes up it hits the A-pillar on the driver's side--- Right?
Proper adjustment of the arms should solve the wiper blades hitting each other. One trick you can do is to use a smaller blade on the passenger side.
There is also a chance that there is enough wear on the various pieces that the sweep of the arms is getting wider. The busings on the components may be worn to the point where the slop is allowing more movement.
If you ever have to replace the arms, use arms from a 95-96. The arm was redesigned to a lower profile and will allow the wipers to park under the hood.
