What is the best method of plugging the fuel lines when they will be left unattached from the fuel rail for a period of time? I'm sending out my fuel injectors for evaluation and cleaning and I don't want fuel to spill all over the garage floor. Would pinching the supply and return hoses with a rubber hose coated needle nose vise grip at the fuel tank suffice? I remember years ago using tappered plastic or nylon plugs that twisted into the fuel lines that sealed them up very well. They looked very similar to the tip of a tube of caulking. I can't seem to find those type plugs anywhere. I would really like to plug the lines with a metal fitting of some type but I can't seem to find the right size or type either. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
I used a large rubber vacuum cap on the return line and a tapered plastic cap on the supply line. Taped the tapered cap to supply line so I could keep a good seal on the pipe ID. I know it worked well because 3 months later, I removed the tapered cap and was nicely sprayed with fuel.

Is the rubber vacuum cap something I can pick up at my local Autozone etc.? Also, is the tapered plastic cap a makeshift item or is it also available in parts stores? Thanks for your reply and keep warm my fellow Corvette enthusiast to the North

The rubber caps are available at auto parts stores. I only used it because I had it. Tape over the return line would be fine to keep out crap. The feed line is one you want to seal as best as possible. The tapered cap I used was from something in the garage, I think from my powdered chaulk container.
