Thank you for posting this, I've been wanting to do this for quite some time now. I went to Home Depot tonight and found the gutter covers. I didn't have to buy the pack though, they were selling them individually for $1.69. I bought two just in case. Now I have another project to occupy me until the weather gets sensible.

Got my side covers done in my '85 and I think they look pretty good. Since I had the 3M tape already, this touch cost me $1.69 plus tax.
Thanks again mguerra.

Nice! I will be doing this also. Just wanted to see how they looked with a black vette!
Outstanding post. Usually I get depressed reading all the cool things people on this site do to their Vettes, not because they do stupid things but because what the do cost to much.
Finally someone did something cool, that I can do myself, looks good and I can afford it.

Oddly enough, the original reasoning of doing this to the front of the car is to keep debris from flying into the covered area. Being on a rear opening they would keep stuff inside the car. Having said that I'm buying some and adding it to mine. Nice touch!
i have to admit this is the 1rst visual mod ever, that works for me. i like everything about it:
1. gives subtle pizzaz without looking stupid
2. damn cheap
3. ultra easy to reverse
i like it so much i'm actually gonna do it
Go for it! Make sure and get the 3M tape, you can see it in the first picture. I got it at NAPA, it's 1/2 in. wide. They have other widths but whatever I originally bought it for, the 1/2 in. suited the job better and it is just right for this job too.
thank you soo much, ive been wanting to do this for a while,i cant wait to go home this weekend to get it done,do they sell chrome spraypaint and does it last?

I bought a can of chrome spray paint and it was duller than the natural color. I made another piece and threw the painted one away. If anything, clear them before installation. I left mine natural so nothing would affect the tape.
