Default Made it!

Drove the '84 from Houston to Richmond Va. via Foley Al., around 1500 miles or so. The car ran great but the Interstate in a few of our states absolutely beat the hell outta the car. It's got rattles and creaks it never had before. I now understand what the journalists of the time were talkin' about. I love my car and have no issue with the ride quality but if I lived here in Va. or in La. the roads would probably have me choose the softer suspension of another model. that said: the car used one quart of oil and has average a bit over 24mpg! Not bad for 24 years old! Gonna race it tomorrow!

Sounds like a good journey.
My vette was solid and squeakless when I got her. The road to the golf course is one of the worst roads in this town(3 rounds a week). Now the vette talks to me
The good news is they are repaving it this year and I am in the process of tightening everything I can find under, behind, over, around, beside and inside the dash.
Hopefully she only whispers this spring.

Does this mean early C4s were all cadlliac quiet when new and that the stiff suspension on the early C4s causes things like radio speakers to not always work, dash bulbs to quit, tops to squeek and rattle, bushings to quake and shutter, and a host of other electrical components to give up the ghost? My 84 had well over 100K on the clock when I got it and these are some of the things that had to be replaced in mine.
