Dude, I know how you feel, but dont take it personally. I got my C4 dirt cheap. Otherwise, I'd never have been able to afford one at the time and might now be in a C5, or worse yet, not in one at all.

The good thing is, because of the price, i do have one. Not the fastest, or the best looking or the nicest, but its mine, its all MINE!!!

Sometimes, those kind of things happen for a reason.

I just decided to sell my 2000 Z28 convertible and keep the C4.

Go figure

Isn't "small rant" an oxymoron?

Got my '94 because I wanted a brand new Corvette and could finally afford it. Since then, some sentimental things have happened in that car, endearing me to it, and never plan to sell. It's muh baby.

If I had the money for a C6 and the space to keep the '94, I'd gladly liberate one from the clutches of the evil dealership. It's the right thing to do...if ya can.

Well i cant lie...I love the C4
But i wouldnt mind a C5 or C6 but i think i would rather have a NICE GS over a C5 or C6

So i guess i love the C4 more in that case

My car is not about a dollar and a cent, or even one HP or one foot LB of torque. There are few cars, or even other opportunities in life where you just have to throw intrinsic value out of the equation. Its like my marriage. If for some reason some rich good looking woman batted her eyes at me would I want to trade up and dump my wife? I wonder what else goes on in the backs of the minds of people who only see a dollar a letter and a number in things. What else could they do away with if they could only get the chance to cut and run? I am emotionally involved with both and in the back of my heart I have given an inanimate object a life, and a soul. It seems Vette owners can be broken down to two broad catagories. The investment group love the shape, the fact its the newest thing on the block, as fast as what anyone else has, It doesnt require maintainence (effort) , is status, (looks good from the street in the garage with the door up). Basically, it impresses and can retrieve what matters most in their lives.....The money they spent on it. I have a dog of an 85. A POS that happens to be quite high on the list of things that matter to me in my life. I struggle to put my 3 kids through college out of pocket while at the same time trying to find 5 more nickles to make it better. Its like another kid, but just below my dog. It needs paint, I am re-doing the entire interior, New wheels and tires, many electronic upgrades, etc, yadda, blah blah blah. But when this kids done, it will roll out into the world and make me proud, like my other ones, because I did it right . I wouldnt take ANY of your cars in exchange for it and I MEAN that. But I would take any of your cars in addition to it, because there is still room in my heart for another kid. I am in the emotional group that is not afraid of a fight. Nothing worth having isnt worth fighting for. You won't see any pictures of my car here because quite frankly, I am embarrassed. OF ME that I can't do better for it. Anyway, People who complain about what they have should never have had the chance in the first place. Either go get your money back or spend some time with your kid.

I bought my C4 because I love the body style and the cockpit feel better than the C5's or C3's. I would have saved and bought a C5 if that's what I wanted, I don't think you should settle and buy anything less than what you want. That said, I would really love to have one of the new Z06's, but I could never save that much and I wouldn't spend that much on a car even if I had the money.

So I take it that you've never driven the Z before? I'd also bet that you'd change your mind after driving one too. I thought my Vette was fast since it was my first and only but after experiencing the Z06 at WOT (at the track of course) just simply blew my mind at how fast those bad boys are. I was too scared to punch it below 90mph. Hopefully, 10 year's from now they'll be half-priced if not lower for a high mileage Z.

This is way at the tail end of this thread but:If I wanted a C5 I would have a C5. If I wanted a C6, I would have a C6. I have a C4 because I want a C4.

Exactly. The only thing that matters to me is my Corvette. I don't care who owns a C4 or why. I may own a C5 one day, maybe not. I definately like to have one for a week or two just to see for myself how it compares.

I also argee that affordability isn't a dirty word. A C4 is affordable. I bought a toy. My C4 is my second car, and that's all I could justify spending on a second car. I'm ok with that.

I bought the best Corvette I could afford at the time and it happened to be a C4.

Tough luck if you don't like my reason.

Default Why, Why, Why

It was late fall of '68, Brooklyn N.Y. I'm 5 years old holding my mother's hand waiting for the light to turn green to cross the street. Out of the overcast haze I heard a rumbling....into sight comes the most awesome thing I have ever seen.....a brand-spanking new silver Corvette. I was stopped dead in my tracks! Spring 1978, the Anniversary Edition Emblem of that white C3 is etched into my mind. Fast forward 6 years, 1984, zombied out infront of the TV watching MTV, changed the channel and out come the words, "You've never seen anything like this before". I'm that same 5 year old kid again! OMG look at that!! It goes on.........But let me get to my point. I drive an '85. It's the 2nd one I've owned. I love them all. BUT, the biggest reason I have a C4 was the price. I just don't understand why someones is to be cut down if that was the deciding factor. I have a wife and a family and a home and pets........Some things are more important than others. I feel if you drive what you can afford, great. If having the newest and baddest on the block is what makes you happy that's wonderful. Just be happy with what you have! As far as I know, from '53 until today it's always spelled CORVETTE, no matter what # comes after the C

Bye the way, My wife says she could stand naked in front of the Vette and I would probably ask her to move.....She's wrong........I hope

Maybe you missed his last sentence?
...That said, I would really love to have one of the new Z06's, but I could never save that much and I wouldn't spend that much on a car even if I had the money
I think he made his point very well.

Sure it's fast. But remember, there's always somebody faster
And speed isn't everything.

If I really wanted a Z, I'd save my $$, sell what I didn't need and buy one. As I've said in many threads before, I really like the body styling on the new Z but they don't offer it with a targa or convertible top!

That takes it out of my "wish list." I love them and love to look at other peoples (because it's what THEY wanted and I'm happy for them)

But to "me", since I was a child, a CORVETTE, a "real" Corvette, was a convertible or had at least a removeable top!! (I know thats but it's the way I've always felt).

And...Since GM obviously doesn't give a chit what thier potential customers want, dictate to us what they think we should have, and since I don't feel comfortable having someone cut up an otherwise fine Z06, I'm going to have to pass on the almighty "Z"

One of these days, I'll probably buy a used C6 and mod the hell out of it, have the fenders and and LPE hood put on and enjoy it too. But for now, the C4 is my baby. It's a toy. I can't work in it and I can't use it daily due to the places and situations I find myself in.

I refuse to say that it (or any other series) is better than another. They all have thier attributes and thier drawbacks.

My 87, ain't fast. It ain't even that pretty. But it's MINE, I like the styling and I love the way it wraps around my fat **** when I drop down into the pilot seat
It has the TARGA top, some wide mofoin' tires and rims and handles very well.

Since I don't race it, auto cross it, show it or use it as a STATUS SYMBOL, I really don't care how it fares to the C5/6.

Sure, I got it for a song, and a short song at that, the fact is I liked it when I first saw it. If not, I wouldn't have even wasted the few dollars I did spend on it.

Don't get me wrong. I love the styling of both the C5/6 and saw some beauties out yesterday enjoying the Florida sunshine

Right now, the wind is blowing pretty nicely, a balmy breeze, the sun is shining and the sky is pretty much clear with just the puffy white clouds above. God I wish I could get out from behind this damned computer and go drive my vette! Unfortunately, I have a TON of paperwork to get caught up on and don't have the time

These are days that vettes were made for...all vettes!!!

Is it ok to "settle" for a C4 if you can't afford a Top Flight Fuel-injected 57?

I drive it because it's a fun funkin car. If you want to look like the Jonses by all means jump right into a C5. They're going to be the next generation to take the lowly step child position while others will take the C4 into the classic looking design and style of the Corvette family. Then other Vetters will be dying to get your attention for a wave (). It's just my opinion.........and yes I know about opinions.

I live nextdoor to the Jones`es & they sure as hell can`t keep up with my

I am emotionally involved with both and in the back of my heart I have given an inanimate object a life, and a soul.

My car is mint and I would beat it into pieces with a claw hammer for a
C6 Z06 It's just a sportscar, nothing more. I LOVE my WIFE and KIDS I do not love my car, I own it. If we all had money comming out of our asses would we REALLY own the Corvettes we do ? I would own a C4 but it would be a ZR1 or a Grandsport. Maybe a Challenge car and for certain the new SS or Blue Devil or whatever they're going to call it.

Tell it like it is!!!! I check the paper out quite often and find lots of time when you call an owner of a c5 or c6 and ask him about the car lots of time he says "I got in over my head and behind in the payments or I just cant afford it". I have a 95 c4 6 speed and just as happy as a hog in slop with mine.
