If everybody thought like original poster of this thread, we'd all be driving the same car for the rest of our lives.

Variety is the spice of life... I love my C4, and I will thoroughly enjoy it for as long as I have it. But a time will come that will want to enjoy something else... probably a later model Corvette.

Doesn't mean I will love my C4 and C4s in general any less... it just means that there will be a time when I will move on to something different.

Different is fine, its the "Settling" I have a problem with.

I'm a C5'er, but I peruse the C4 General section alot, so I'll chime in here. My first Vette was a 89 Coupe. High miles, & not a showstopper, but sweet otherwise. I got the car for $8900. 4 years ago. I thought the car was beautiful & quite frankly I couldnt believe I could own a Vette for that price. I learned alot from the car & learned alot about how to buy my next one.

The next Vette I bought was my 94 Vert 6 speed. It was torch red & I was in love with the car. This one was a much lower mile car than the 89 & I really took pride in ownership. I fixed what needed fixing & brought the car up to as perfect of a standard as possible.

My current Vette is my C5Z06. I love this car more than any of the 54 vehicles that I've owned over my lifetime so far. It does everything I want & to me its the best of the best. Its beautiful & fast as hell with low miles & a lingering new car scent.

So, to re-cap.......I bought the 89 cause I could afford it. It didnt take long to find its limitations......so I got into the next realm of Vettes. The 6 speed & the LT1 were impressive & fun, but there was still other horizons to be explored. I checked into C5's and found out about the Z06 cars, and the rest is history. In the future, when I can afford one, I would like to have a C6Z06. Not because its the newest, cause it wont be, but cause its the next Vette in line that offers the best performance I can afford.

I sold my 92 to trade into a 94 ZR1. I could have bought a 07 C-6 (non Z) for the total amount I have invested in the ZR1 (after moding it). But I'm driving the car I want...and my "baby" wil hang with most any non Z C6..... I think that's my point.

Nothing wrong with that as long as you keep making improvements.

Unless you would rather have a C4 over every other generation of Corvette ever made you did settle. I've owned three C4's and I really like these cars but compared to a C6 Z06
