Small Rant

Sell your car, Save up, and buy a 5 or 6, there are people that own and drive C4's because they are what we love, and not because "Its all we can afford"

). It's just my opinion.........and yes I know about opinions.

But I keep seeing more and more posts that has "If I had the money I'd have a C5!"
Well it is my opinion that the C4 community doesn't need people like that, like the C4 is a transition vehicle. it isn't.
If you wanted a C5, you should have kept your civic, saved a little more, and got a C5.
I think it's just human nature to want what you think you can't have!! It seems like I more often talk to C-3 people that want a C-2 than C-4 people that want a C-5 or C-6! I've changed many times and may change again. One of the reasons I have stuck with C-4 so long as it is about the limit of my technical knowledge to repair! but even that is slowly changing. I think it's really great some of the young guys [gals] buying C-4's and their enthusiasm for the car!!! I remember being like that when I got my first C-2 in the 60's
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Don't get me wrong the 5's are awesome too and wouldn't mine having one considering I've only driven one twice before. The '99 I drove didn't seem much faster than my '92 but I never hit WOT with it so I don't know if it is or isn't. I love all Vette's and just glad to be apart of the team.
I bought my 1988 C4 because I loved the early C4 above all other corvettes.
Second:
I decided the later C4 was the way to go because it was so much more refined. Then I started thinking that I needed a C5. So I did a lot of looking around for just the right replacaement.
Third:
I finally remembered what I always wanted in the first place.
Now I am comfortable putting as much money as I want into my old 1988 corvette. That because I still love the early C4 corvette above all other corvettes.
I almost screwed up chasing what I thought was better.
I realize that my car is a much better car than I am a driver, and can be made to compete with anything else on the road.
I would not rag others to leave the ranks, they may come around to loving the C4 as much as I do.
Its is normal to see greener grass on the other side of the fence, and want it.
I am just glad I came full circle before I sold my car.
Why would something like that even upset you? Who cares? Everybody has their own reasons for owning whatever it is that they own. The only possible angle that I can see you're coming from with your small rant is that when someone here says that the C4 is all they could afford, you're referring to the fact that some other people in other corvette generations will stereotype and say that everybody who owns a c4 only owns it because it's all they could afford. If those people are so naive, and to put it bluntly, stupid, to think something like that about those that own C4's, then let them be. Sometimes ignorance and stupidity is just a part of life and can't be changed.

The only reason I bought my C4 is because it's all I could afford. I couldn't have afforded a C5 or C6 a couple of years ago when I bought this car. If I could've, I would've bought a C5 or C6 instead. Are you telling me I'm not worthy of a C4 because it's the only one I could have afforded at the time?
There is also a bit of ignorance in what you say. Case in point: I've wanted a Corvette since I was in diapers (I just got out of them a couple of years ago
). I've wanted A CORVETTE. not a C3, C4, C5, etc.... A CORVETTE. The C4, is a Corvette. The C5, is a Corvette. The C6, is a Corvette. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting the best of everything; performance-wise, Corvettes get better from year to year, and body/appearance is purely subjective. Hell, I want the Blue Devil when it finally makes its debut. Are you saying i should sell my Corvette(s) and that I shouldn't buy any other Corvette until I save up and can finally afford to get the Blue Devil?
When the C7 makes it's debut, i will want that too... when the C8 makes its debut, I will want that. So when those come out, the only reason I will have a C5 or C6 is because I couldn't afford a C7 or C8. I'm driving a Corvette, I don't care what generation it is, if it's all I can afford, then so be it.

You hardly know who I am or what I mean.
Btw, I also wanted a C1 and C2, but I couldn't afford those either.
P.S. Oh I almost forgot, I still have my Civic too.
