Best books on Vettes tech??
Hello all,
New owner of 92' here. Before owning a Vette I never had any tech books...only some books on history of the Corvette.
I have the full GM shop manuals & a copy of "101 Projects for your Vette". Any other books highly recommded for my library for a new Vette owner?
I'm really impressed w/ the "101 projects..."...it is a great read & seems to give honest views on different Vette mods.
I also have the "top 50 questions vols 1 & 2" on order from CC as they were only a couple of bucks a piece so I added to my order.
Any advise on "recommended reading" for new C4 owners?
Thanks!
JKK

Corvette Fuel Injection & Electronic Engine Control: 1982 through 2001 by Charles O. Probst
This is the most informative book I have ever read. It expains exactly how Corvette fuel injection and emissions controls work.

A must read if you want to understand what makes it go.

Probably one of the best books I've ever read. Too bad Mr Probst died, it would have been nice to meet the guy and hope for future volumes.

I browsed that 101 projects book. Good for a very beginner I guess, but not good for much else.
Try:
Corvette from the Inside by Dave McClennan. A good mix of history and tech, focused on the C4 development.
John Lingenfelter - Modifying Small Block Chevy Engines. Focuses on the engine shortblock, heads, intake. Spends some time on C4 fuel injected motors, that was one of his fortays.
I ordered the "Corvette Specs" book to do some studying, not sure if that's any good or not yet.
Non vette specific, "Tune to Win" by the late Carroll Smith is very good technical book on suspension setups and handling, and in layman's terms as much as it can be.
Also I've heard "King of the Hill" is good, might be more of a history book I think.

I have the FSM's, 101 projects, Vette specs, Corvette from the inside, King of the hill, Corvette Fuel Injection, rebuilding the LT1/4, and several others that deal with the history of the Corvette. I like Books and pick up nearly any that have to do with the Corvette, I actually have quite a good library (I guess it's the school teacher in me). I have read "All Corvettes are Red", it's a very informative book about the development of the C5 and sheds some perspective on the C4.

Another plug for the Probst book on EFI
It makes me realize how dumb I was neglecting those O2 sensor complaints on my various daily driver cars over the years. I guess those cars ran in open loop or limp-home mode for good periods of time.

This one is a must read. I use it almost as much as my FSM.

101 Projects is more suited for beginners and first time C4 owners. The seasoned CF member won't find much that they don't already know.
Thumbed through the "Corvette Fuel Injection" book at Barnes & Noble. Looked pretty good but left it. Didn't think it could tell me anything new or different that my GM shop manual.
