I've recently seen a C6 with a really nice lambo door conversion. One of the best lambo doors I've seen on any car...and most I think look retarded. While I was talking to the guy who installed them (a fellow C4 owner) he said he'd never chop up his car to do this. There is a lot of body work, cutting, and touch up painting to be done. The big part of the C6 kit was the way the door opened and operated. It was smooth and opened in one motion. the only C4 kits he's seen, open out then up giving it the weird butterfly look.

Make sure to talk to a few installers about what all you are going to have to move, cut and paint. It's certainly not for the light hearted. Also, if you go for it, make sure to look at other cars they've done to see their finishing work. Check where they cut the door seal off and around where they mounted the hinge. This will really show their attention to detail.

F the haters.

I like stuff that is DIFFERENT.
For those that don't go to a lot of all-Corvette shows, it can get downright BORING looking at the EXACT same car over and over and over again.

Visual mods are fun and exciting and can add a whole new life to your car as well as make it an individual from the sea of like cars out there.

Why do people get new wheels when the stock ones function fine?
Why does everyone paint their valve/fuel rail/etc covers?
Why does everyone everyone swap out their radio?
Why does everyone buy head/tail light blackouts/louvers/etc?
Why does everyone paint their brake calipers?
Why does everyone get new mufflers/elims/cutouts?
I could go on and on.

NONE of that stuff serves ANY purpose over the stock look or sound... BUT it adds to the fun and excitement of that owner's experience and enhances the level of fun they are having with their own car. If lambo doors make the experience more fun? So be it.

The only discussion here should be: They fit like crap and are horribly expensive.

I cant argue with this logic!! While this mod is not for me. Its your car do what YOU want. As my forum brother above suggests fitment and the expense might be a waste of your valuable modding dollars. But do what you want really you only need to make yourself happy. Then again I like MOJOs vacation idea.

I agree with you. I saw the post where someone painted their dash/console red and used foil to give it a textured look. It wasn't for me, but well executed and creative. One of those creative things might be for me, I like to see them.
I'd never do lambo doors, even if I had the $$. Just not into it. But, if you like them, and have the cash, go for it.
I'm concentrating on just getting my car right, but I think at some point I like the look of a small wing on the back.

Is there any side shots of that car? IMO, the original poster should see that they are in fact not scissor/lambo doors, but more of a cockroach with wings.
Now if he thinks he can pull off a lambo look instead of all these poor attempts, I'd like to see it.

Here's one. This kit is $1700, but the doors look broken. The red one looks more vertical.

Youll need a couple parking spaces to open those doors and a ladder to reach up and close them.

Aside from the UGLY wheels (But as I pointed out eariler, that's MY opinion, if it makes the owner enjoy his car, rock on!)... anyway...

If those go straight up like real lambo doors, that would be pretty cool! I've not seen any that look straight up before. I'd definately like to see a front shot of that as well to see door angle.

I have to agree with someone else on the "hatch goes up, hood goes way up, doors go sidways?" comment It seems as though with the style of the car and radical design change back in the 80's this should have been some sort of option or something heh.

I try.

I just hate people that have their head up their butts and so the only opinions they have are of what they see, without any thought to what the owner enjoys out of what he did to his own car.

I've seen a TON of UGLY stuff done to Corvettes at all the shows I've been to.. but eh... to each his own. It's not MY car. I am sure a bunch of people don't like some of the things Ive done either, but who cares? I am the ONLY one that matters when it comes to my OWN opinion.

It's the purists that make the auto industry BORING. I mean seriously... these people need to get over themselves. ITS JUST A FRIGGIN CAR!!!

If purists ran the auto industry, there would be no innovation, we'd still be driving around in model T cars. Look at all the change between the C3 and C4? We all love C4's here.. but think about how DIFFERENT it was back in the day to see such a radical design change.

Now... think of over the years.. you have all those custom cars and people doing custom things to them.

Don't like popup head lights? Lets add non popups to the C6!
Don't like door handles? Lets shave them and make them electronic on the C6!
Think all that navigation stuff is cool? Lets get that option on a new C6!

See? Its all the cool stuff out there that people do that aren't "stock" or "standard" that prompts designers to say "hey, people like this stuff and mod their car with this stuff, lets just make it standard on the next model"

Who knows... maybe one day they Corvette will eventually have lambo doors from the factory!

True. Do you want to bring up the hypertech chip and 160 F thermostat mods also to really make this thread fly high??
If you ask for it, be ready for differing opinions. It's only human nature. I personally do not care for the lambo doors. You'll never see them on my ride but if someone else wants them..then damn the torpedos, full speed ahead!
Now, for Mojo's idea...$2,500 could buy me some neat toys and another trip to Valhalla Shooting Club!!
