It's not really about the car, Yes i always wanted a corvette, and so i got one. But even if this C4 isnt running 9's in the 1/4..it certainly can get away from a driver, goofing off with it.
I can replace parts all year long, There's only one Michael! And I cant replace him. Experience is our only teacher, Some get to use that knowledge, some dont.
For those dads out there...they know what i'm talking about.
My son wanted it for prom this year also. I remember the beatings I gave my dads cars, thank god they were mostly gutless, I would not be writing this today if he had a vette for me to drive.
Your a good man for giving him the keys but I dont think I could have.
That sucks man... Im sure your son feels bad! But just think it could have been worse... Better yet thankfully he was only 5 miles away from home and wasnt hauling *** down a highway and hurt himself the passenger or the car any more.
I have a little different situation. My date wont let me take my vette too prom. She wants to take a limo. A limo doesnt make a statement like a vette does...
Joe you need to find another girlfriend. A lemo over a vette, I cannot believe it. Whatever you do don.t marry her, you will have to buy a Subarban for a family car, a dishwasher so shw wont get red hands, buy all wash and wear clothes cause she don't wanna iron your clothes, a micro-wave oven cause she don't wanna cook, would probably want you to get out of the Subarban and open the garage door cause it's too cold for her to get out.
See what happens when someone prefers a lemo over a vette.

If she's HOTT you can compromise, you rent the limo and she agrees to ride

Time to find another date sir!
To the OP:
Hope everything works out on the car.
My parents rented me a caddy for my prom (didn't have the money myself and was driving a mid 60's primered VW ).
Treated it like a baby. Once the date was over.......I drove it around the rest of the night.

For a story that starts with "I let my teenage son borrow the vette", I think your lucky. The problems could have been much worse that mechanical. As a father of a 18 y.o. son I think you did a good job.
