Default Heater/AC module bad

Hi everyone, I have checked and can't seem to find anyone with a problem like mine. The heater/AC control on my 89 coupe doesn't seem to want to work. It has the digital display and when you try to turn it on just starts flashing, the indicator lights over each control flashes on and off and none of the individual controls will work at all. The only thing that does work is the fan. I thought I saw a control unit for the 88-92 that wasn't digital. I'm wondering if I can put in a different type of control or just finding a new or used digital control module and swap them out. Has anyone had this problem and is it that big of a job? Thanks

You might have some luck with cleaning the electrical contacts of connector.

Thanks, I really hadn't thought about doing that. I wasn't sure what I would run into when i tried to take the old one out.
