Default Locks Not Working

Yesterday, I got in my 88 Vette, the automatic locks worked. 3 minutes later when I got home, they didn't. Any thoughts?

both sides? if so I'd guess fuses, does the 88 have the fuse panel inside the passenger door (not on the door itself)...

It does have a fuse panel inside the passenger side door. I'll give that a try, thanks!

The bad news: if it is a blown fuse, there's probably a reason why the fuse blew, possibly a bad switch, lock solenoid, or shorted wire. If you replace the fuse and it goes again you'll have to track down the cause.

Well, unfortunately (or I guess fortunately?) it's not the fuse. So the mystery continues...

more info needed, both locks in/op lock and unlock, any noises when you press the button? Any AFTERMARKET alarms or remote open?

No aftermarket alarms. The automatic lock on both doors do not work. (The locks work manually) There is no noise when I hit the button.

Baffling.

It is as if something became instantly disconnected.

Now you need the Factory Service Manual...

Are you going to try to diagnose the problem yourself?

Pulling the door panel off isn't hard, but there are a few hidden screws and once you get it off you have to hold it up while you disconnect the connector for the hatch release, it's akward but not really difficult.

The locks are a low priority. So, we'll see. I think I can live with it. For a while.

a broken ground wire in either door can disable the locks . . . but thinking fuses first . . . . have you tried switches on both side of the car?

I have a similar issue. The power lock will operate the passengers side fine, however not the drivers, nor can you move the manual lock on the drivers side. Any ideas?
