every time i wash the outside, i clean the engine. i use this cleaner/degreaser i get from work and spray the entire engine then hose it off with as much water as needed. i also do the underside of my hood.
i have the delteq ignition so the water has never had any effect on my ignition. i also put my car on the lift at work @ once every month or two and degrease/clean the whole under carrage.

Clean engine bay = hard work. I wish I could explain how I keep this engine bay so clean except it's still under a complete 2-yr. restoration and I haven't seen it up close in that time. But, I'm sure Simple Green, water and elbow grease will be the ticket to its happiness.
