because this is how these cars should shift right from the factory. Shifts more like an exotic now. Click, click, click.... it's a huge improvement. 5 years running B&M here..would never think of going back or not doing it to my next one.

No. You'll basically have to pull the console plate and shift boot, that's it.
I removed everything inside to pull the my 4+3 tunnel patch out and exposed the entire rear end of the tranny, but it didn't help one damn bit. What a waste of time that was.

Ecklers, Zip, midamerica have it, but there was a production problem and the new batch apparently was manufactured wrong, so unless they have old ones in stock, you may have to wait awhile.
Is the thread pattern for the shift **** on the ZF6.....9/16"-18????
Yes, 9/16"X18, I bought the Husrt billet plus, largely beacuse it was the recommended shifter of my forum inquiry, not installed yet, waiting till I pull the trans and do he clutch.
ok, I bought the B&M shifter about 3 months ago and still have not installed it...the dealership wanted to charge me $350 to install it! I want to install it myself but do not want to drop the tranny, is there any way I can install my shifter and easier way?
FWIW...Bill Boudreau aka ZFDoc installed my B&M in under 3 hours (and that's including doing his mod to the B&M which eliminates virtually all of the side to side & front to back play)...by himself. Yeah, I was there but he was a one man army on that job. He didn't even drop the exhaust. Guess that's why they call him the "ZFDoc".

I was responding to his post about doing from the top. You don't. The only parts up top you remove are what I listed. Still need to pull the exhaust.
I did it with the exhaust on, but I have an 85, so it may be different clearancewise than yours, and it made it way harder to install the shifter, trying to hammer a pin into a shifter shaft at an angle when the shaft wants to spring to a vertical position.
