I think the worst part of this incredibly stupid statement is the fact that every time some C4 guy dusts it off for re-use, he thinks he's the only person that ever read that overrated book. News flash: you aren't.
The other problem is, while enjoying it if you have a red car, adding the "rest are just mistakes" part is so obnoxious it deserves to be pointed out. I wonder how the C4 crowd would like it if early model Corvette owners decided to keep saying all Corvettes made after 1967 were "just mistakes." Not so clever anymore, is it?
I'm a dinosaur who has owned every sort of Corvette (including red ones) but I remember getting steamed back in the 70's when some jerks were selling T-shirts that said "real Corvettes have trunks" and "sure they made Corvettes after 1967, but who cares?"
That crap was stupid then and it's stupid now. Quoting something just because a GM person said it in a book doesn't make it any less stupid.

I wasn't quoting the quote itself. I was stating where it came from. It is a great quote and a great book. I don't think when most say it that they mean it literally. You're going to get a good thread locked.
