me and my girl friend pulled in and i got out right next to my vette, i waved and he just looked at me like im white trash. im 23 in college and i wear more name brand clothing then most people wear. his vette was not all that nice. he was mid 30's maybe early 40's. it was a nasty yellow, he forgets that we are all vette owners, this is why for the longest time i hated vette's. butt holes like him bring bad name to the vette owners.... i remember this guy saying no vette owner has ever said hello to him before me we all are human and like my girlfriend says its just a car... why do some older vette owners show no love for the younger vette owners?

I don't think it's the C4's in general, just the area we live in... I was out this afternoon and had a guy in a Chevelle wave to me, a Boxer and a C5... passed 8 other vettes (Mostly C4's) and not a single one returned a wave... I'm done waving unless I'm on the way to a show or something where there is a massing of vettes.
Heck, my girlfriend in a Cirrus got a wave from another Cirrus owner!!!
:nono: We are not all that way :nono: I am 52 and I wave at all Vettes. If they dont wave back )most do) then my wave turns into a finger  I cant help it! Dont forget to wave!!! :D :yesnod:
Maybe I can offer some insight... I am an older Vette owner and know what goes through my mind on occasion, and I stress "on occasion". I love my car and have owned Corvettes since about your age. When I got my first one, I was a terror to anyone around me. I drove like a mad man and my gas pedal may as well have been an on/off switch. I had no respect for the car and no respect for the world around me. I am SURE there were Corvette owners that would rather eat their hand of, than wave to me. THEN, I realized what owning a Corvette really means. For example, You will more than likely never hear me say "Vette" I say only "Corvette" no idea why, I just think it sounds respectful and not cheesball. I still drive like a mad man, BUT, I am not showing off for others, I am simply enjoying what my car can do, and enjoying the honor there is in owning a car that instantly makes you part of the family. The thing is, you hacve to NOT be the relative no one hopes will show up. No I CERTAINLY am not implying that you are anything like I was, but that older guy, probably thinks you are. He probably thinks you are too young to respect the car you have, or that someone bought it for you or whatever. Having been on both sides of the fence, my only advice is to keep on waving. It takes little effort at all and lets us older guys know that you "get it". Happy motoring my friend and here's a wave back atcha !! :seeya :seeya :seeya

What does that have to do with owning a corvette?
Corvette is a name brand, and some of us wear our corvettes as if they were an article of clothing.... uhhhh.. i mean some of us wear clothing that says "Corvette" on it, even if that is not the real brand name of the clothing we are wearing...ummmm..no, it's just that some people look inside your underwear elastic to see what brand you are wearing and judge you accordingly.... mine say FTL.... hmmmm... that's not it exactly, oh, never mind... MJ

"Corvette" is much more then a brand name. Corvettes are American icons, awlsome sports cars. Maybe you don't get it. These are awlsome machines made right here in the good old USA. Check the tags in those brand name cloths you wear, I'll bet most are made in Asia in sweat shops. :seeya
I recieved a wave from a C5 owner today. Of course I returned the wave. Just about every C4 I come across I'll get a wave. I had some guy in a late 88's C4 give me real big rev. I took that as a "nice ride man" and revved back.
Age has nothing to do with it. I am 45 and wave when possible. I have noticed that the newer corvette owners look at me like I am crazy. Must be that they bought a corvette for their ego not their lifestyle.
I pulled up next to a guy in a early C4, I looked over and waved, he just looked at me :mad Not sure what his problem was. The good thing is he's only a small % of vette owners :)
