I have a 95 that just started having problems with the chargeing system.
I had the alternator rebuilt, and it seemed that it had fixed the problem.
So after driving it for 150 miles.I stopped and let the car sit for around an hour. Then drove it again for another 50 miles and the cars voltage droped down to 12.3 . It did the EXACT same thing before I had the alternator rebuilt.
ANYONE ELSE EVER HAD THIS PROBLEM?????
because this is my only car and I need to fix the problem.
I can't believe a serpentine belt in any decent shape would slip enough to cause that dramatic drop. Get the facts first. Measure the voltage with an known good volt meter (DVM) at the battery and alternator. Determine if the voltage is really low. Carry a meter with you if need be. Then if the voltage is really low it then you can look for the problem. Possible defective alternator, grounds or wiring. Check plug for corrosion or problem at alternator.
Did you ever have the old alternator checked? Since it is a rebuilt, bet you the problem is still in there. Probably a bad voltage regulator, and might not have been changed.
