i am doing the cat back strait pipes tomarrow morning at a reliable shot where i have had a few others done but i have never done no mufflers i want it to sound bad *** loud, but i am worried about back pressure. I have the stock mufflers on now, will see any increse in performance?
I have SLP Loud mouth type 1 exhaust with resonators. It sounds awesome plus it was cheap. I bought both mufflers for $160 from www.slponline.com and then had my local muffler shop install them with custom tips for $200

Well, did you do the straight pipes??? Results??
The straight pipes I've heard sounded terrible - tons of popping, backrapping, etc. Chrysler tried this on a Viper several years ago to see what the V-10 would sound like, & the engine ran about 30^ hotter & made about 25 HP less, plus it didn't sound any good in their opinion. Then they installed some Super Turbos (expansion chamber & a little backpressure) & things returned to normal. You need to run some sort of mufflers on a "street" car exhaust.
Made a new exhaust for my -96! Same old melrose long tubes, new 3" cats (old ones went bad), home made straight thru muffler in place of the stock resonator (can't find one that that fits here in finland, I make mine by my self to get perfect fitment), after the muffler there is stock H-pipe and straight 2,75" duals to stock lt-style tips.
No drone, quiet to inside and outside sounds quite good I think.
If the Power Effects power capsule mufflers were to become available would anyone be interested in buying them. I hear they are great on corvettes and are in demand. Just seeing what the market is. Any replies will be appreciated.
Thanks
I am REALLY looking hard for a decent price for a Borla system right now and ran across the SLP. It doesn't look too bad, but I REALLY want a Borla. The only problem is I will absolutely not spent more than $800-900 on one.
Does anyone have know where a deal like this might exist?
What year car I am getting a bit tired on the Borla cat back system on my 91.

Nice thread, when I bought my 92 coupe it had Flowmaster mufflers. These sounded great from outside the car, but the resonance about killed me on anything longer than a 30 minute drive. I went to CORSA after reading the threads on CF. Never been Happier. To me it's the best system for a C4.
That is exactly what I had and did. My car had a Flowmaster exhaust system when I bought it, I couldn't stand the resonance and it left my ears ringing. That damn drone at cruising speed on the highway gets old fast! The Flowmaster is just a pickup truck system adapted to the C4, but they did not design anything into it to mitigate resonance. I bought the Corsa system, this was the best $1,200 I've spent on the car. No more ringing ears and it looks and sounds better. It is well worth the price in my opinion.
