EXACTLY! I have to say I was a little dissapointed when I realized this on my car. Had I known, I might have given more consideration to the Magnaflow or BB systems. It sound and looks great, don't get me wrong, but I feel like I paid for a cosmetic mod.
At least I only have to clean two tips instead of four
I have heard they lose torque and I have also heard that is an old wives tale.
But dyno's don't lie!
I will -however- take it back to that dyno this spring, when we have a Corvette dyno-day. Just to make sure there's no problem with the engine. If the numbers keep on dropping, then there's something wrong with the engine and getting worse. On the other hand, if the numbers still are the same, then it's time to change the original mufflers back...and after that...back to the dyno

Thanks for sharing.
I prefer the LT-mufflers' sound over the stock, too. The difference isn't that big "soundwise", I could live with the originals, but the looks - that's the big thing for me. Sound is just a nice extra Too bad, if I have to go back to original.
Because the other outlet is very restricted, only very little amount of exhaust goes through it. Especially, when idle - part throttle. Things get better with open throttle
I am REALLY looking hard for a decent price for a Borla system right now and ran across the SLP. It doesn't look too bad, but I REALLY want a Borla. The only problem is I will absolutely not spent more than $800-900 on one.
Does anyone have know where a deal like this might exist?

Seeing that you have a 96, I'd keep the stock exhaust and replace things in the current system, that's what I'm doing. It's great because you can basically choose your sound for under $200, and more than likely, it will perform just as well if not better than most aftermarket systems (3" might be a little better, but I know the magnaflow is pretty quiet and the B&B has these screen things that restrict flow). Just a suggestion. So far I've replaced my center resonator with a 2.75" x pipe, and today I'm ordering a set of 3" 16" chambered mufflers from classic chambered (powersticks). It is going to sound wicked, AND it'll be a completely straight thru 2.75" system
I have the SLP 3" system from the cats back including the resonator and muffs. They are connected to SW headers and hiflo cats. I've never done a vid on here but if your interested I can try.

DO IT!!!
Everyone here loves videos! And the SLP system doesnt have many sound clips so it would be nice to hear it!

Does anyone have any experience with Power Effects tunable cat back systems? My 94 Vert came with them. There is a **** on each muffler at the back so you can open or restrict the flow. When you turn the **** to the least flow it is supposed be equivalent to the GM specs. There is some unpleasant resonance at 2000 rpm when the exhaust flow is
completely open. Beyond that, I would say the sound is pretty decent.
I have TPIS Headers high flow cat and Power effect tuneable. I like the sound
