C4 Exhaust thread
I am not a moderator and dont want to act like one but i thought this would be a good addition to the community.
Ok, so i have searched and searched to find information on different exhausts (mainly cat backs) on here. Most of the information below is what i have gathered and i encourage people to chime in to correct or add to something i missed. The whole "which exhaust is better" debate seems to be common post on here and hopefully this will help some other new people in the future. The information below is mostly for LT1/LT4's and i guess some of it could apply to an LT5 also.
Corsa
The highs:
-Great quality
-Fitment is superb
-No resonance
-Good sound/looks
-And, just the name Corsa says something
The lows:
-PRICE!
-Only 2.5" system offered, no 3"
*Expect to pay about $1,000 - $1,300 for an LT1 system depending on the vendor. Less expensive for the L98.

Corsa system with long tube headers:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cC0xx3U1ZZE
B&B (Billy Boat)
The highs:
-Price is a little less than Corsa
-Offer a 3" and 2.5" system
-Fitment seems to be good
-IMO the tips look better than Corsa
The lows:
-Earlier systems have terrible resonance
-Some prefer the "raspy" sound of corsa over the deep tone of B&B
-Even though it is less expensive when compared to Corsa it still is a good amount of $.
*Expect to pay about $1,000 for a 3" system and about $900 for a 2.5".

Magnaflow
The highs:
-Much cheaper than Corsa and B&B
-Good looking muffler and tips
-full 3" system now available for late model c4's
The lows:
-Some have reported resonance and others have not.
*Expect to pay about $750 for the full 3" system (LT1/LT4).

Ok, as a Corsa owner I can assure you that all openings are functional. The outer openings do not flow as much as the inner until higher rpms but they do flow even at idle. Also, did you really mean to put resonance in the high column for Magnaflow? Most consider it a low.

nice post!! can't wait to get more detailed side by side comparative info from the forums collective experience (i've heard all the marketing hype from advertisers). I'm especially interested in how the stock systems compare as a baseline!..

I agree with the poll opinion . I'd like to get a set cat back too, but everything in the For Sale section is usually too far for P/U or the seller does not want to ship, .. etc. Maybe this poll/review will help me decide on a setup. I'd like to get a throaty setup when hammered, but not too loud while going through the neighborhood at night and pissing off the older crowd sleeping. PLUS, it must not drone you out when cruising at highway speeds. I go up north on the weekends and I have another car that drives me insane with the aftermarket cat and exhaust. If anyone has a used, non-new, pre-owned, display model, or ordered LT1 instead of theirs, feel free to PM me with what you have and shipping to Zip 48088 (MI) sorry for the lung-full, let the POLLS begin!

With the LT1/4, the cats muffle the sound pretty well, a lot of people eliminate the muffler completely, have a pipe welded in, and use the stock tips. There is some resonance cruising at higher speeds, though.

Nice thread, when I bought my 92 coupe it had Flowmaster mufflers. These sounded great from outside the car, but the resonance about killed me on anything longer than a 30 minute drive. I went to CORSA after reading the threads on CF. Never been Happier. To me it's the best system for a C4.

Does anyone have any experience with Power Effects tunable cat back systems? My 94 Vert came with them. There is a **** on each muffler at the back so you can open or restrict the flow. When you turn the **** to the least flow it is supposed be equivalent to the GM specs. There is some unpleasant resonance at 2000 rpm when the exhaust flow is
completely open. Beyond that, I would say the sound is pretty decent.

Re: Corsa. Yes they are nice but $1000+ for a short exhaust system such as a C4 is an absolute joke.

On LT1's, just replace the factory resonator with some piping, and swap out the mufflers for any muffler of your choice. $100 per muffler is more than enough for a GOOD set.
On L98's, clone the LT1 stock exhaust, then see above.

I agree. I put my exhaust together for less than $200. I promise an L98 with the same mods and Corsa or B&B isnt going to beat me down the 1/8th, much less the 1/4. Waste of $$$ IMO.

I tend to agree the prices of exhaust systems for c4's is crazy. But, i wanted to make this thread for the people that are looking to go online and buy an exhaust. We all know that we can paste togehter an exhaust system for alot cheaper than what companies charge for thiers. Alot of people just dont want the hassle of seeking parts and finding a reliable shop to do the the work (if they are not experinced) not to mention cutting up the stock system.
So, i fixed the magnaflow resonance part (now in the lows) and the non functional corsa exit tip has been removed.

FWIW...you can get the Magnaflow system for 92-96 (#15623) for less than $330 shipped. You just gotta know where to look.. eg. www.performancepeddler.com
The only requirements are a phone call and the mention of a "forum member discount".
