tint.
An exception is factory tinted glass. There is no limitation to factory tinted glass which is engraved.
We have these meters at the police department to test transparency.

I've had to take the tint off twice because the station was busted for not checking.
What sucks is I bought the 35% stuff but factory glass has 5-10% already so it adds together and puts me over the limit.
So I just replace the tint each time. Haven't been stopped for it yet though.
With that said.........I ran around many years ago (when I was young and stupid) in a truck that had 5% on the back and sides, with the front windshield being mirror tinted and was only hassled by one LEO in 4 years of driving it like that (long hair and an attitude may have also had something to do with the situation
).As others have said......... as long as you drive respectably, you can get away with some pretty dark tint.....if you want. It is also harder than He11 to see through at night.
I also had a VW bug that had all the glass behind the front doors painted black (talk about hard to see through!!!
). Perfectly legal in Texas (I wouldn't recommend it for "normal" people though). Have actually been thinking about doing this to the van I drive for business (a wall behind the front seats prevents any use of the rear view mirror or side and back windows anyway).Of the four vehicles I own right now, the vette is the only one that has no tint on it. Thought about getting it tinted......then realized that the only time I drive it is when the weather is nice enough to pull the top down, roll down the windows and go for a cruise (just a waste of money for what I do with it).
