Time to start dressing up my engine bay a bit and was considering powder coating the large flat top intake, sorry I don't know the proper terminology for it. I've done some photoshop renderings and it looks pretty good but wanted to get some opins on powder coating like about how much does it cost, longevity, ability to keep it clean etc.
Did all the sanding and grinding prep work before powercoating, makes a major difference on the finish and gloss, also had powercoat gloss clear coat on runners/plenum. Process done 3/07 and no issues, cleanup wet cloth, cost $350 for both.
I was digging around this topic... there are different kinds of powdercoat material, some are more resistant to heat and chemicals than others. A couple good sites are caswellplating.com and eastwoodco.com Both have forums
Powder coating is the way to go. Tough stuff and easy to clean.
I priced out what I needed coated and I was overwhelmed by the costs, so I bought a kit and powders from Columbia coatings and got an oven from the local Sears outlet for a bottle of rum.
For less than $200, I have everything to do it myself.
