Default Dana 36 to 44 conversion

I've got a 91 I'm buying for the rear end (and parting the rest out so the conversion will be free)) and want to put the dana 44 into my 94. What parts do I need? The pumkin the batwing and C-beam, which driveshaft do I use. Anything I'm forgetting? Also any suprises putting 91 rear into a 94?

You will have everything you need. I would expect the only thing you'll need to do is swap the slip-yoke from your A4 to the M6 shaft with "new" u-joints get it balanced and life should be good! You'll use the D44 C-beam from the M6 car also.
Your only aggravation will be the speedo calibration and we should be able to accomplish that. Just supply me with the axle ratio of the M6 car you're using the rear from. You might want to "confirm" the ratio while the rear is on the ground and inspect the 3 seals for seepage. Might be the time to at least do the 3 seals.

What color "guts" in the "donor"?

The only thing I would add is make sure you check the ratio before installing the D44, if you need to change the speedometer drive gear on the A4 output shaft it is WAY easier with the drive shaft and C beam removed. Ask me how I know.:o

94 allows you to use a power programmer (which I have) to tell the computer what ratio is in there. 3:45 by the way

Absolutely right, I was thinking 91, nice that you can change upshift speeds in the PCM too, governor adjustments on the earlier cars is a little tougher, but is often necessary after the gear change. I have the same setup in my 93, you will love the gear ratio.

Turns out it's a ZO7 car so I'm switching the entire rear suspension and installing the front spring/bushings/sway bar. So my little 2:59 auto FE1 FX3 will be a little more B/A
