Power steering problem

I have an 89 that I bought a year ago, it had a bad lifter with 120k on it so i let it sit. I finally got it running last week. I noticed that the power steering was acting like it had air in the system. I added fluid and it was fine for about 3 days. Now, it is whining and hard to steer, it tends to overflow constantly. I add fluid up to the hot line ( when its hot) and it just overflows after about 10 min. The whining and hard steering never seems to go away, whereas before when I added fluid it seemed to be fine. Any ideas?

the only thing that can make it overflow like that is trapped air.the air expands when it heats up and pushes the oil out. turn it to each lock and hold it there for a minute.repeat.

You need to find the leak and fix it also. I would suggest replacing the hi pressure line, which is about a 2 hour job if you have never done it.
