i personally like the looks of the early c4's vs. the later - no flames, just my preference. the nice thing, is the older they get, the less you see on the road. my son's down in florida with my old 85, and he tells me it's quite the attention getter.
jon0108 - on the 86 - yellow over black is stunning. one of my two, wishbook favorites, would be a yellow over black 90 vert, or a black over red 90 vert. it took me a while, but i stumbled across another one of my wishbook favorites...
While the negative comments don't help, it's a public forum and you shouldn't wear your feelings on your sleaves. We all know the OT section of CF hates C4s with a passion. A few of those guys probably trickle over here just to ruffle a few feathers. The C4 is the red headed stepchild of the Corvette family, that's just how it is.
Everyone's priorities are different: whereas they've used the C4 as a stepping stone to a "better" C5, C6, or Stingray variant, they probably don't understand why some people just get hung up on the C4 gen and stay there.
Don't feel too bad, for every person offering negative comments towards the C4 while drooling over newer Vettes, there's someone in the car world who will offer the negative comment "They stopped making Corvettes after 1967".
The car hobby is rock, paper, scissors. Take the negative comments with a grain of salt.
I'm not sure, but isn't it true that the C4 is the only Vette to reach 254mph? I think there was a name associated with it, maybe had hammer in the name? Any other Generation Vette's that can claim that?
Remember when you were a little kid and that certain friend always thought HIS bike was the best or HIS baseball card collection was the greatest. Then he would start looking for faults that he could find with your bike and start telling you how bad your bike was and how crummy your baseball collection was. Well some of those kids got older and they now own Corvettes. Thats why all the negative comments about your year or model Corvette. Some kids never grow up, and the fact that you really enjoy what you own drives them nuts.
I try not to worry about the declining "value" of my '93. The fact is that compared to all other cars in the $9,000 price range, the C4 suits me the best. I'm thankful they exist so I don't have to drive an SN95 Mustang or Chevy Blazer.
It's only natural that the value of lots of older cars are going down, especially "classics". It doesn't matter whether Johnny Carson had one, whether your uncle had one that would "shear the lugs off" on acceleration, or whether there are songs about them... In the Internet age the only thing that matters to performance nuts are how much time it takes to lap the 'ring, what the 0-100-0 numbers are, and whether it can beat a modded R34 JDM Skyline in a togue duel (all of which are available on the net) and the C4 just doesn't fare that well comparatively. Mine is still the funnest car I can afford with my modest means and I've no choice but to be happy with it.
c4's are the step child of the vettes, but you know what....I see more of these things going WAY over 100K miles and still lighting the tires w/o problems.

Nice Car Joe C !
I recognized the viewpoint of the second picture!
Did you leave early or arrive late? Your car is missing from my photos
The 84 has got the bad rap that will never go away but the truth is there are far more problems with the L98-LT1 cars then a CrossFire car ever had, there were no problems with the 84s as far as reliability issues go.You get people talking $hit about the cars that have never even touched one.One a positive note there are some clean low mileage 84s out there at some good prices.I had one for 22 years and never had a problem with the car that was 84 related but as far as the 84 stigma goes it will never go away as long as you got jerkoffs feeding the fire.Id buy another on in a heartbeat if it wasnt built with so many junk parts.
As a rule the 84's had alot of reliability problems. As far as the crossfire engine, I'd agree it was pretty good, the problem was back then few people understood fuel injection or computer controls. Not trashing 84's, I've owned a lot of them and enjoyed them, and worked on a lot more, but no, they had problems. It's a great car (one if the best in the world in it's day), it's just that there are a lot of better ones for not much more money. I'm old enough to have seen the same thing happen with the C1's-C2's-and the C3's. And we're not to far from seeing it with the C5's (already started actually).

I cant recall the 84s having any reliability problems, none. Now they were built with garbage parts, steering rack,AC compressor clutches, paint, window regs, door panels but these were in ALL the early cars, not just in 1984.I never had any issues with my car in the 22 years I had it that were 1984 specific other than a dead TPS that was covered under warranty .Ive heard of more issues in L98 cars than I ever heard about 84s.Th only issues were a harsh ride and it wasnt as quick as the TPI cars.As far as people criticizing the car goes, this will go on forever. The 1984 Corvette was a milestone car and some people cant accept it for what it is.One of these days it might get back some of the glory it deserves.

Ken,
That was a Corvette car show put on by the Northeast Ohio Corvette Club on 7-9-06. It was held at Summit Racing Equip. in Tallmadge Ohio.
Sponsored by Summit Racing and R & R Entertainment.
I don't think they have held that same show since then however. At least not at that site. Maybe someone else can give us info on upcoming events. I am not a member of the club.
