Default difference between Bose and non-Bose head units

What is the difference between the Bose and non- Bose Pioneer radios. I would think that the internal amplifier in the radio would be different to compensate for the different impedence in the speakers.

Is there an external Bose interface that you have to use with the radio????

I think the stock ones are junk, and you could stay with the head unit preamp set up, or else go to a standard setup where the head unit is the amp, and you run speaker wires to it.

Ecklers sells the Pioneer DEH P77DH. Sells them Bose compatible and Non Bose so i was wondering what the difference is. i read on a nother forum of people hooking these radios up to a Bose system and burning out the radio because of the low impedence of the Bose speaker/amp combo.

I bought one of these units off someone on this site and was wondering if I need some sort of Bose interface or if I can hook up the speaker wires directly to the radio.

No you will need the correct pioneer interface harness to hook into the factory wiring. Each speaker on the stock set up has an individual amplifier per speaker. So you simply cannot hardwire in and expect it to work.

If the Bose compatible radio includes an interface harness, why is it cheaper than the non- Bose at Ecklers??????

where can I purchase an interface harness if I already have the radio?

Well who knows you bought it used right so its going to be cheaper. And Ecklers may or may not have the best price in town. Id start here
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/

Here

http://www.electronicexpress.com

Or here

http://www.installer.com

Lastly Ebay. Also I suggest you take a look at the Forums Radio section a wealth of knowledge over there as well, especially in the C4 Audio FAQ section sticky at the top of the page. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/audio-electronics-20/

Good luck. GC
