I sold my C4 today. I'll probably still stick around the forums but anyway. I'm probably going to pick up a '67 firebird project this weekend. Something to keep me busy with.
The following guys have been great, and I'm glad I've had a chance to meet you guys on here: mseven, tequilaboy, petek, agent 86, tpi 421 vette, jsquared94, y-me, ld85, biggrizzly, vtvette, -=jeff=-, johnnyevans, jleatherman, cuisinartvette.
Hopefully the 20 year old I sold my C4 to won't put it into a tree.

Sounds like a fun project with no ECM issues!
Yes, all good guys. I rely heavily on searching post and seem to get very relevant information from them all.
In case you do regret selling, it is a buyer's market out there so it won't be to painful jumping back in.
Good luck with the old Firebird!

They have been good guys and, I'm sure there is some guys I forgot as well.
Good luck with your new adventure.... Maybe you can put a corvette engine in it
A friend sold his C5 a little over a year ago and bought a Cad CVS and last week the Caddy went and in came a 2009 C 6.
The thing has a neat exhaust feature where it starts with exhaust cutout open then it closes and if engine goes over 4,000 RPM's opens back up !
I won't sell my C 4's but I see a C6 in my future !
I have a Red and a White C 4 so I'm short a Blue C 6 ! LOL

C6 is nice.
If I ever bought a C6, it would be a daily driver. Something that I didn't modify.
I've found that, while C4's are cool cars. They cost too much to build into street/strip machines. Then you have an iffy IRS that could break, just a lot of big money expensive parts.

Post some pics of the Firebird if you get it. My sister had a '67 when she was in high school. It was a good looking car, and for some reason it seems like a lot of Camaros of that vintage survive, but you rarely see an old Firebird running around.
Good for you Joe, youll love the musclecar. No electrical to hassle with and a simple wrench and screwdriver set does about any repair in minutes. Post some pics of that bad boy up....
Know how you feel about the Vette. although neat to look at and drive, after 3 of them not sure if Ill ever buy another.
joe, i wish the best of luck to you, and enjoy that firebird.
i agree with your sentiments.
after buying a C4 (actually owning 2 of them), i've found that they are short on real power (although the tough styling suggests otherwise, which just makes me laugh anymore) and desperately need that problem fixed right from the factory. because they are underpowered -- and the reality is $$$ bux....and on this platform it ain't worth it.....jerking with pittance factors like exhaust here or an intake there is useless and nothing, so its takes a real changeover and real $$......
then you have hack tuner on this board that has made life at one time very miserable for too many, but that's another matter.........
i agree with cuinsinart, i'll never own another C4, and in terms of corvettes there's for too much to enjoy in significantly better platforms like C5 & C6.

Before you "never own another C4", I suggest you spend a short time behind the wheel of a ZR-1. These days they aren't even very expensive for the earlier 375HP cars. while you may still want to move on, it's unfair to suggest that "C4s" have no power.

PLEASE, the ZR-1 boards don't need Red on there belittling our hobby cars. Hopefully he'll eventually sell his C4 and go pester the C5 bois.

I don't think the intention of my post was to insult or start a war.
I accept the fact that C4's are really nice handling cars, and a ZR-1 is quick for an older car. To each their own, and it's all good.
My position was it seemed to cost way to much (around $22k) to build a 500HP c4, and I still wasn't happy with it. It was my money, so my choice to move on. I understand why a lot of guys are happy with C4's because their goals are different and that is fine. My cousin has a really nice 1990 that is all stock, and a flawless car. If I wanted a stock daily driver, I'd get another Corvette in a heart beat.
Owning and maintaining a modified Corvette just wasn't cost effective to me. To start racing the car, and break big money parts every weekend just didn't make sense. And while 375hp is GREAT and ultra fast for a daily driver, I usually run 500hp cars. So again, big bucks to get where I wanted to go.
So with that said, I'm glad I got to know a lot of you guys. The Corvette will leave a lasting impression on my life.

Joe, I know that you have been a great help over the years especially when I was rebuilding my motor. I know you will have a blast with that Firebird, as I have done several early camaros too.
You will undoubtedly miss the Corvette though and one day return.
