Default Side marker lights not working

Anyone know why my side marker lights don't work. If I understand correctly they are suppose to come on when the turn signals are on. If the headlights are on they should come on and stay on and if the headlights are not on they should blink with the flashers. Mine don't come on at all. I just replaced the lenses and put in new bulbs. The old bulbs wouldn't come out without breaking but they did com out. The signal lights work just fine as well as the headlights.

Has the side marker lights ever worked properly since you've owned the car?

For the circuit to function correctly the correct bulbs must be used.

Side marker lights = 24
Front Park/Turn lamp = 2057 NA

Better check the No. 24 bulb for your spare tire carrier, too. It's probably burned out by now as well.

All of the lights seem to be working except the white markers in the front on the sides. These are suppose to come on when the turn signal is on only (when the headlights are on they are on solid and when the headlights are off the blink). I still haven't checked the rear side lights yet though. According to my SM the side marker light should be 1156 I think. I don't have my book with me but I'm sure that is what I bought. As far as the lights working since I've owned it, I don't know but I doubt it.

What does the front marker lights have to do with the spare tire carrier light. I was not aware there was such a light.

The white marker lens on the front/side are called the cornering lights.

They never blink. When on they are on solid.

They only come on when the headlight switch is in Park or Head
and the turn signal switch for that side is selected.

The cornering light will stay on as long as the turn signal switch for that side is selected.

The cornering bulb is a 1156

The spare tire lamp turns on when the interior courtesy lights are on.
The lamp is located on the back edge area of the spare tire carrier.

Here's the schematic for cornering lamp circuit.

Your correct, they have the infromation for the side marker lights and the cornering lights in the same part of the book and I got them mixed up. All of my lights work fine except the cornering lights. I have the same book but chasing wires and following schematics aren't my strong points. I was hoping there was a common fix. Thanks for the help.

Plus, you learned you have a spare tire lamp, its location, and the size bulb required to replace it. No. 24, same as your license plate marker bulbs. Aren't we great?

Just so you know, not all C4's have the spare tire light.
Not sure exactly what year they stopped, but 1996 does not have it.
