Do you check a plumbers or electricians work when there done also? You hire a pro to do a pro job so you dont have to worry about it.
Yes I do.

I don't trust anyone. The only time I have someone work on any vehicle of mine is when I don't have the knowledge, tools, or facilities. Hasn't happened yet with my Vette.
I agree that they probably screwed something but a simple check of the dipstick would have caught it.
The fact that you paid 3 times the normal price does not ensure great work unfortunately.
I live a few towns over now (La Grange) but lived in Villa Park for a few years. Very sorry to hear about your oil change engine issue. I normally do my own work on cars and have an oil change to do and now am a little concerned. I know it is after the fact, but why not an oil change at Corvette Mike's down 83? They are $79 and know the cars. I am sure you got some GM wrench turner who went through the motions without a care for the car.
Even though I have pulled the radiator to clean, I am also a little leary of flushing. Heck, my raditor "flush" this year was removing all of the fluid from the two overflow tanks and replaced with new. I figured some new radiator fluid is better than none, and it removed the contaminants from the overflow. I will do this again at the end of the season.
You could also try D&M on Ogden, but they are a ripoff, yes the cars they have are mint, but they aint collector cars so price accordingly.
I am an investigator and you need someone to go with you who is creible to look and take photos of the over filled dip stick and write a report on it, you may have to go legal on this issue.
Dont know anything about corvette mike's. Never been there d&m is a rip. I live right behind castle and that was the first and last time ill ever ytake any of my cars there! I plan to go legal if i have to. Waiting on some district manager to call me tomorrow, if i dont like what i hear im going straight to my lawyers office my sister works there and she has already been informed of all the facts.
Corvette Mike's: Oil change was $79 off of frontage road at route 83 and 75th street
And they did an overall inspection and let me know what else is needed without being pushy. I let them know I was going to do the work myself and they were not pushy at all. I have not used them for my last few changes, since I do them myself, but I got treated like crap the one time I was in D&M and cannot believe they are still in biz.
Back to the story, let us know how it goes, funny thing is I just bought 6 quarts of mobil for an oil change and forgot that it was 4.5. I am sure a few people took notice of the damage from an overfill.
Love do you have an lt1? My manual sits in front of me now and i can read well, it says 4 with no filter change and 4.5 with the filter changed. I also searched these forum threds and everyone else complies with the 4.5. So what are talking about? The only other diff is the lt5 wich requires almost 8 quarts.
Yes, I have an LT1. My owners manual - under capacities - reads 5 quarts with filter and 4.5 quarts without filter. I was wrong on the 6 quarts part and I apologize for that misinformation. I don't know what my FSM says.
You are correct. The 1994 & 1995 owners manual clearly shows 4.0 and 4.5 quarts. Thats strange. I typo'd earlier. The 1992 manual says 4.0 and 5.0 quarts respectively.
Someone from chevys disrict office contacted me last week. They were really nice sounded like they might be able to do something, but i wont find out till wed.
The price paid wasn't just for an oil change. He got a coolant flush too, and they are a time consuming pain to do correctly in an LTx engine. I doubt the car would have even made it the 200 miles it did if the engine had a big air bubble in it.
Over fill on the oil will take one out just as easily as not enough oil. You've got the receipt and the dipstick. I'd say that is pretty good evidence in your favor. I hope it gets resolved in your favor.

As I said in your thread and I'll repeat myself in this one....
Go by what the dipstick is telling you.....If you have to put another quart in there.....do it.....
reading manuals and some one mixing your empties and full ones...then you lose count.....
PUT THAT Manual away.....Just check the dipstick and be done with it.
Corporate has confirmed the dealers mistake on the oil quantity. Unfortunatly they said they cant do anything about it since its a workmanship issue, all they can do is support my case by giving an official statement on the oil quantity. They suggested that i take the dealership to small claims. They also gave me another number to call that deals with business ethics. The man i spoke to said that they only give out that number to special cases. Ill have to give them a call and see.
