I would not trade. I would sell the truck and then take the cash and get a much better Corvette for the money. In December I bought my 1991 with 43,000 miles on it for $ 7900 in excellent condition. I spent $ 200 fixing it up.
nice car, your wheels are on backwards though...this is starting to get funny how often they are flipped!!!
My guess is that if you have a PU as a daily driver, then a vette will not substitute for you as a DD. Where are you going to put all the stuff you normally carry in the truck??!! Also, there is NO WAY an 84 vette is worth close to the value of that truck unless it has been prepped for shows or completely overhauled for racing. I just bought an 86 for $3500; if you look around a little more you'll see what 9 grand can get you. Not to mention that if you still owe 7 on the truck, you've only got 2500. I would certainly sit this one out and get the truck paid off before I though about a car like a Vette. Just my opinion.

I believe the wheels are on correctly. Why do you say they are backwards??? And I would like to thank you and everybody who has made a nice comment about the car.

I always thought that 'sawblades' would 'cut' forward; like an actual sawblade. That is the way they are on my car, and I think they look better that way. But, there is a discusion going on right now on the "sawblade" thread about this very subject. I have seen them both ways, and have been told that mine are correct (cutting forward).

KMColdcars wheels are on correctly, yours are backwards. There shouldn't be a discussion as they're stamped on the inside which wheel goes where on the car.
OP......an '84 with 125k for $7500 is way way way out of whack.
I paid $4500 for my 64k '84.....and then proceeded to buy "one of everything".........It just didn't like being pressed back in service. The Previous Owner put about4k miles on it since the mid 90s......and this one was the best shape I could find...there were plenty other rough C4s for less money. I liked this one because the interior was showroom fresh. and until I put it in the sun, the Silver paint looked great.
Over all it has been a great Daily....it just arrived at it's "Service window" under my watch.......had I paid more for it, I would have had the red A$$ for sure.
If your Truck is worth $9500.....there is no way I would trade even...well I take that back, I'd make that trade in a heart beat if I would wind up with the Truck....
Your deal.....Your Truck for his Vette and you get $5k to boot......you can find '84s all day long for ~$4k.........There were 55,000 of them made.....
Pay the truck off. With 150K miles on it, you should not owe on it, IMO. Pay the truck off and then save that monthly payment for a while and buy a vette with that. There are plenty of vettes out there for cheaper than what you are looking at.
If it's going to be your only vehicle you'll have to ask yourself what kind of use will it get. Obviously a Corvette is a lot cooler than a truck but if you need to haul things around or do a lot of driving on rough roads or in bad weather a Corvette isn't the answer. Also you'll have to come up with $7,000 to pay off the truck, you won't be able to transfer the loan to the Corvette.
Terrible, terrible idea. The '84 isn't worth anything, not half what you are thinking. C4s are so underpriced you need to dig up what you can in real dollars and go buy as much car as you can. You won't believe how late model a C4 you will get. They are giving them away.
I have a guy that lives just down the road, his dad had a '84 vette garage queen, the car is in great shape, just needs possibly u-joints and/or bushings maybe rear shocks. Power seats need work, maybe just a fuse. Everything in this car is working (except the power seats) and I know it's a good solid car. I've had other local vette owners of C4's and they say it's a good car. But here's the deal, I have the truck below in my sig, which is a 2002 Chevy z71 it has 150k miles, but is a great dependable truck. This guy is willing to trade me even for the truck. His low retail on 84 vette is around 7500$ my truck book med value is about 9500$. He is not willing to give me any boot, should I do the trade for a pretty good car and hold on to this American classic while I have the chance, or stick with my truck and wait for a newer c4 that needs no work (yet I have no idea of the true history of another car). That's my big thing...I know this car has been taken car of, garage kept and it was a 70+ yr old fella that drove this car, it has 125k miles on it and only 1000 miles in 5 years did this guy put on it.
Thanks guys, I'm saying NO to the 84', but I'm saying YES to a 96 LT1 if the deal goes through. If it don't go on the 96' with 95kmiles, then I'm just going to wait another year or so till my truck is paid for and the wife said we could Finace one then! I'm almost tempted to wait, but I can't stand it, I love these cars.
