Most older Vette drivers of older Vettes know the Heritage behind the car.
A lot of younger, richer, preppy types run out and buy a NEWER Vette not knowing anything about it's history. Just because they look cool or rich or fast.
It's about plumage to them. They just want girls to notice and wave, not you.
Back in 1987 when I bought my 1970 C3 convertible I notice most every Corvette that I past on the road would return the wave except for the C4 owners. This was when owning a C4 meant that you had a brand new (or mostly new) Corvette. I think it’s the same today when I drive my 16 year old C4. I get lots of waves from the older Vette’s but very few from C5 owners, and defiantly few from C6 owners.
Can we please stop with these intergenerational issues? Most of the drivers that don't wave are:
1. Paying attention to their own driving.
2. Didn't see you.
3. If driving a later car, are tired of waving because they would have to wave all day long at the other daily driver Corvettes out there.
4. Are pre-occupied with other issues in their life (don't we all have some issues?).
5. View the Corvette as nothing more than a car (albeit a stylish one).
6. Aren't really car "people" to know they should wave.
7. In the middle of a shift (if a manual) and don't have a spare hand.
I doubt very seriously if ANY of these drivers who don't wave are:
1. Stuck up or snobs
2. Hate C4s
Jeez, Plenty of newer Corvettes don't wave to me when I'm driving my 67 and it's worth far more than any C6 or C5 - so it can't be a "snob" thing going on. If they wave they wave - let it alone otherwise and just enjoy your own Corvette.

There may be some snobs but, I think there is a lot more to it than that. The other day I drove by another vette and never thought one thing about a wave because I was thinking about a friend that just passed away. There are so many reasons why, just keep waving and being friendly.

A C5 is an el cheapo Corvette now anyways just not quite as el cheapo as ours are
I personally love the slimer/sleeker styling of the C4 anyway, there are so many c5/c6 running around the C4 gets more compliments and looks as well. C5/C6 guys do love to mess with ya though, they always want to romp it and try to embarass you. All in good fun though, every one of them smiles and waves.
As for those not waving, I agree, some people are just tied up. I wave at most I see.
I'd prefer to think that most just don't see the other car.
But there are many newbies buying C5s and C6s that don't have a clue.
And some C5 drivers have posted they will not wave at C4s. I told em I was keeping a list and would always make sure to give them the single finger modified wave.

I've missed giving a few waves because I had other things on my mind or I was slow recognizing a fellow vette owner. I always try to wave, but sometimes here in the boonies vettes are so few and far between that you are not always looking..
Every time I see another C4 on the road (its rare) they ALWAYS wave back. Usually if they dont wave its like others have said, they probably just dont care. A few of them are complete a-holes but it probably wouldnt matter what they drove ya know?
I have a C4 and C5. i try to wave to all corvettes.
What I have noticed is the "crappy C4" owners don't wave.............seems like there are more crappy ones lately...............
I try to wave at the C3's but my arm just won't move..............JK
