I have a Brey-Krause mount on my drivers side seat with a 2.5lb Amerex at the present time but I have been installing a few of the Safecraft PB series with 1211 Halon in the Ford GT's lately and I've put one of those on my list for the near future. The 1211 Halon is easier on wiring and is non-corrosive if you have to discharge it, but the Amerex will put out a fire too, the clean-up afterwards is just more time consuming. I would recommend having one on hand regardless...I've had a car burn up and it could have been saved if I would have had a fire extinguisher.
I know I'm spelling this wrong but I use a "Halon" type so if I ever have to use it the mess will cause the least damage. I used to use the $15 type you can buy at home depot until I actually used it and the damage was extreme. A small Halon type costs about $60.
My 84 is insured with Haggerty for an agreed value of $8000. If it catches fire, I will bail out as quickly as possible and breathe real hard on it from a distance.
I've never owned one, but the Halon type seems to be favored on every forum I visit.

Mine's "new" one is small, red halon type. I swap it out about every 2 years or so now after the last ordeal. Had a alternator burst into flames once some police officers were near by and saw my event unfold and put it out with the extinguishers they had in their cars. My "old" one had an expired charge and failed to work...... get one, put it in the car & check the charge every so often.
Should Everyone carry a fire extigusher in there vette?????
Would on from the boating section at walmart work ok??
Depends on what the fire suppression material is. Dry chemical or soda will leave a hugh mess that can be hard to clean off. Marine-approved extinguishers may not always be the best to use.
Halon 1211 or Halotron is probably the best type of extinguisher to carry for a car fire. You can find them in different sizes, but the 2.5 lb size works best.
You can get extinguishers and some neat brackets here Good guy to deal with.
