Lets say .... SOMEONE puts a hammer through your windshield (ok, maybe not through it)... and you have glass insurance with $100 deductible... would you be able to get a new windshield and $200 weather stripping (hint hint) for $100 installed ?? :D
Probably depends on the adjuster....
I had an MGB in college and the top was in need of replacing. One a.m. I went out and someone had litterally ripped the stereo out of the difficult to replace dashboard, but they had also finished off the top getting into the car. It was a p.i.a. finding the new dash section, but I did get a new stereo, dash & conv. top out of it.

Depends on the insurance company. Be ready to answer the "What were you doing with a hammer near the windshield?" Here in VA they would have to replace it all (windshield gasket and windshield). I need two more stone chips in mine before they will replace it.
If a VANDAL breaks your windshield, I would think that your comprehensive coverage would cover the replacement and you pay the deductible. If the glass company says they MUST replace the weatherstripping to guarantee the work, then insurance should cover it.
Have your agent look at the damage the VANDAL did and tell him that you have talked with a reputable shop that said the weatherstrip must be replaced. Some insurance agents will ask (push) you to go to a shop they want you to use or you may even have to get estimates. But hold out for the weatherstrip as part of a guaranteed job.
Yes. As long as the weather strip needs to be replaced in the process. If not, you may be able to work something out with the glass shop. I don't know how they get away with it, legally, but all the glass shops around here advertise "free" windshields. They promise to "waive" your deductable. Obviously, they are quoting the job for one price and discounting the job by the deductable.
Yeah, there are a lot of "free" replacements somehow. Not sure on the specifics. The weather stripping on mine is getting kind of old. I don't think a VANDAL would hurt anything on it for a little while though. I need to get my engine/tranny working first.
My insure company replaced mine when it got cracked by a rock. I didn't have to find a hammer and glass on the front seat. I also didn't have to worry about jail time where Bubba would be hammering my glass!
Here in MA there is a $0 deductible clause for glass replacement. No matter what insurance company here in MA you have, you pay $0 for any glass replacement.
Anyways... a station wagon sent a good size rock at my windshield last year. It made about a dime size mark on the glass, and also a couple small 1/2" cracks that did not go all the way through.
Metropolitan replaced it for $0. The C4 windshields have come down in price in the last couple of years. What used to be a $1200 complete job is now about $700 done right. I had a new windshield (~$250) new GM Weathersripping ($250), plus labor. It came out to just under $700.
The C4 windshield is part of the supporting structure near the cowl area. If not done properly your car will get even more bodyflex around the cowl area.

Yup, i've heard it's about that price. You MA people are lucky with that $0 deductible by law thing!
My insurance company waives the deductable if you fix a rock chip. You pay the deductable if you want it replaced! That being said, a lot of glass shops offer you a "coupon" for the amount of your deductable. Look around. First rock chip I get on mine, it'll be replaced, as it's riddled right now with tiny scratches from the years of miles. Appears the previous owner my have lived on a dirt road.
Just remember that replaced windows SUCK and you get that black goo everywhere  Had that on my first car... not pretty on when it gets on your sunvisor and you try to put it on floor and then it gets on dash. Not from personal experience or anything
Why in the world were you working on the garage roof with the car sticking partway out of the garage? Anyone knows that you could lose the hammer and it would slide right off the roof and hit the car. You really should be more careful.
:) :)  :yesnod: :yesnod: :D :seeya
