40th anniversary side emblems
I have seen these emblems on 93's other than the ruby red Anniversary Edition. Where these put on by their owners or maybe dealers before the cars were sold. I was just curious, I have a 93 and those would look nice on it, but I'd be somewhat hesitant to drill holes in the side of the hood.

Cal,
As far as I know, the only '93s that came from the factory with 40th anniversary emblems were the 40th anniversary edition cars. All of the other '93's only had the 40th logo on the headrests and on the case for the owner's manual. At least that is how my '93 is.
As an aside here, does anyone know if the aftermarket seat upholstery kits for '93's have the 40th embroidery on the headrests or are they all plain as in "One-size-fits-all" from 1990-1996?
Norm.

I get flamed every time I answer this one, but what the heck, I haven't been roasted for a while so here goes. I work for MAC Tools and spend a considerable amount of time in new car dealerships. This includes the highest volume Corvette dealers in both Salt Lake City and Las Vegas and I have asked them both this question as my 93 has 40th emblems on it as well and it's not a Ruby. The sales Managers at both of these dealerships told me that some non-Ruby 93s did come in with 40th emblems. There was no rhyme or reason as to why some just showed up that way. They were not ordered with them but some did come in. The dealership here in SLC worked on mine and the guy that works on Corvettes said mine were factory installed, although I don't know how he knew, let's face it a hole is a hole. I have no other information besides what these two told me.
Ok, flame away.............

Thanks guys for the replies. Jon, I did notice them on your car before in previous pics, that's why I thought I'd ask. I believe I saw them on other members cars too that weren't ruby red anniversary editions. They look very nice on the car and your car looks great.

I guess the only person who knows for sure is the chief bottle washer and emblem installer in Bowling Green................. personally I have a hard time believing any came in that way but who knows.

Some could very well have been installed by dealers but I doubt that too.

Corvette Central has the embroidered logo on all their 93 seat covers, PN 134157. Other aftermarket suppliers may do so as well.

If I had kept the '93 I had, I also probably would have put those on. I think they look good, GM put the logo on the headrests, so I see nothing wrong with adding the logo to the hood.

In August 1993 I visited Tustin Chevrolet and there was an automatic 93 Torch Red Coupe and it had the 40th side emblems.

Seriously, that's what these guys said, once in a blue moon one would show up with the emblems on it for no reason, maybe they just had holes to fill in............

Sorry, not the same thing at all. Putting a ZR1 emblem on a LT1 is making a whole different statement than putting a 40th anniversary emblem on a car made on the 40th anniversary of the Corvette. Nobody is trying to pass their car off as a high performance ZR1, that's a poser. Anyone who knows vettes knows a Ruby when he sees one. Should we all rip the logos off our seats too?

The rubys look cool but in my opinion every color produced that year is better looking. so we're all doing gm a favor.
