1. Would you car fax for someone 
2. Is it cool to help someone out, or just better to give them the money to start their own account?
3. I feel ashamed and embarrassed to ask someone to do one for me.
4. Would you ever ask some one to do yours

If it was a one time thing I wouldn't have a problem asking someone I knew that had an account to run one. I think $30 is outrageous for one report. I have quite a few friends that I wouldn't hesitate to ask and absolutely would have no problem if they asked me.
If I was actively researching vehicles and pulling multiple VINs then I would pay for a 30 day account. It's only around $40/mo for unlimited VINs and in my case well worth it. I actually found my old Vette through Carfax.

The unlimited car fax is worth it I purchased it when I was looking for my vette and used it to check out about 24 cars. I take that back, I used autocheck and for 30 bucks I got 3 months of unlimited checks.

If I have carfax, I'll offer it to who I want, as I paid for the service for "unlimited" carfax for that period of time, so YES, you can run as many as you can, not theft... why not help a forum member out? Would it be theft if a forum member needs a part for the car and you give it to him for free since you have a spare??? or do you make him go buy it new!??!
And if I need a carfax, I'll ask online... usually the responses are via PM, so no one gets their feathers ruffled

And no it's not like giving away a part you have, your part, your cost. When people don't pay their way, everyone else shares the cost, basic economics. People are not entitled to a free Carfax because they belong to a forum.
