I used to have an 87 Trans Am GTA with a digital dash and it was impossible to see on a sunny day (and Ilive in AZ, so it's always sunny)... ie, the sun just washed the whole thing out and it was like driving without gauges. Does the dash in the early C4s suffer from the same sun washout?
That's what the 1980's was all about! It was the computer era, Michael Knight and the infamous KITT. Atari, digital watches, Apple computers, were making a name for themselves and even finding places in people's homes, 1980's music which full of synthesizer sounds. Unless you are making a hot rod, you are taking away ( in my opinion ) one of the most famous and recognizable features that made this car famous! I love it and I think it is beautiful. All Analog dashes basically resemble each other.
In the 80's, real music was Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Ozzy, Motley Crüe, etc... No synth there. Maybe a little from the Eddie Van Halen - but he usually ran it through a Flanger and Marshall's cranked to the max.
Vettes are famous because they are Vettes - not because of the dash.
On a serious side - if you like it, that's all that matters.

I guess I am one of the few guys who HATE that digital dash.... I purchased a nice clean 88 35th ANC and I can tell you it will have the OEM dash yanked out and eplaced with real gauges...
BUT I will keep the original..if my estate sells the car the buyer can putit back to original if he wants to...

The dash is one of the things that made C4s different from the get go. While I like seeing analog gauges and am used to them, the atari dash is really neat looking, especially at night. I just wish the speedo went up higher. Although it is fast enough for my driving, it just doesn't seem right having a speedo on a Corvette that only goes up to 85 mph!

The graphic portion of the speedo yes tops out at 85, but next to that is a 3 digit numerical speedo that goes well above 100
If it's going to be a race car then i'd like it. If it's a DD or just a street or weekend car I prefer the way the General built it
But that's just me though.
