Replacement For LCD Dash 84-89
I got an Email from Corvette America, about their new product. Just thought I would post it for those looking to replace the Star Wars dash.

Wow, pretty expensive. I guess you'd have to really hate your digital dash?
I've seen analog replacements before, but none mass marketed. This one isn't as nice as the the others, but it's not hideous.

Same dash as my 64 truck.that's going backwards it's like removing your GPS and replacing it with a compass.I'm a person that's always modernizing, if I can find a Heads up and fully digital dash retrofit for my 92 that I'll be interested in.

I actually like it, I would be inclined to put it in a 2nd corvette if I ever get one, I like that Atari dash we have but would love to have one like this.

I agree with the majority too. I like my instrument cluster as it came from the factory. It's easy to repair and not that costly afterall....yet.
I learned that the cluster is kinda cool, and I liked doing the LCD replacements myself.

after engine mods, engine revs faster, and if tpi is upgraded the engine speed change does not slow as redline approaches... tach in the atari dash is useless/dangerous (clutch explo ?), segments of numbers are just a blur as they reset...use less loud pedal and watch close, atari tach continues upward when you let off
anyone know where automter gauges are now made ???...fwiw, firebird gauges which can be used in vette with no sensor changes were made in japan

Those came out about a year ago. Here is the manufacturer's page:

Autometer gauges are about $430 - $450. You apparently also need a "4 out buffer assembly" to bridge the VSS to the ECM and speedo (if you have the 165 ECM). The buffer is a GM part out of a 87-89 firebird. Then, if you don't want to cut wires, you need the socket out of an old digi cluster or an old ECM and some soldering skils...
Oh and then you need an aluminum panel with holes cut to mount the gauges. Do a search on "analog gauges" and you can read the adventures of others.
I'm trynig a cheaper alternative - the cluster out of a 92 Camaro if I can figure out how to mount it in our dash. But if this doesn't work, I go for the after market gauges. Now I just need to find the connector and pig tail for the buffer assembly. Off to Pick A Part.
