I was cruisin the 'Bay and saw a new BBK 52MM TB for my '85 for $200. I guess there werent any other early Vette folks watching and I picked it up. After watching it for 6.5 days, I noticed the same seller had a new set of SLP runners too. They werent much of a deal tho at $300 so I didnt bid on em. After the auction closed, I offered the guy $250. We finally settled on $275 so I got them too. I saved about $175 over retail on both.
The two are just a string of things I am buying for the Sled. I am planning on port and polish on the plenum and base now to match these items. Eventually I will rebuild the engine with more tweaks that I have found here.
I cant wait for these things to arrive so I can start on installing them. Maybe I will get off my butt and get my EM LTH's installed now. Just a little more money, right?
Definitely let us know how they work for you. I have an 85 also, stock TPI with the 52 BBK. I'm looking at a runner upgrade in the future, so I'm curious how the SLP's run for you.
There are some real deals to be had that's for sure- on flEaBAY or even here on in the CF F/S section....you just have to look around. The whole top end of my '89 LTR intake setup (BBK TB, Eddy Hi-FLow intake, SLP runners, Siameased Plenum) was purchased from people selling like new "used" parts. Figured I saved close to $600 off paying brand new part "retail" prices and there was nothing wrong with the parts they just needed to be cleaned....some of these pieces were even partially ported & polished to boot.
Got em yesterday and I cant wait to get them on the Sled. The guy included his receipt from Summit where he bought them in 2006! I hope I get em on before 4 years go by! Hope I sell the '84 today and I will scope out bases. I may have to settle for the ported/polished OEM one, I need new shoes on the back. For some reason, the fronts still look new but the backs are about slick................. Who, me? I dont do burn outs.
