I know the helpless feeling. I took my 1985 to inspection in South Brunswick facility and it passed on its own which I'm happy about. However, I cringed everytime they, plopped in the car, started the car, shut the door and DROPPED my hood closed, TWICE Not to mention that they let go of the fuel door flap hard. No regard for other people property and miserable to the core. I hate inspections!

Thats how I felt today... They were to busy yelling at me to get away so they "can to their work" that they didnt even open the hood any they barely remembered to check the gas cap, but when they did I yelled "careful"!
Thank God its over, now I wont have to deal with them for another 2 years!

I have no clue why it went on the lift... They just tried to shake the tires and thats all!

I was surprised!
I believe the lift is used in order to check the front suspension.Tie-rods, ball joints being bad, etc.

Only good thing about DMV in New Jersey, is that if you carry collector car insurance and drive less than 3,000 miles a year, you could register your vehicle as a collector car and are exempt from inspection regardless of age of vehicle.

I could have just opened the hood for them to see its all in tip top shape and super shiny clean!
I guess its just how they do things. I just really didnt like how hard that lift hit the underside and let the car back down...

Westfield station has a suspension-buster machine that simulates driving over NYC pothole streets at 80mph. Be happy you didn't get that treatment. During inspection, always best to be polite and courteous to everybody, look away, get the sticker, drive off and forget about it.

WOW! Note to self, NEVER go to the Westfield station! Does your Vette get airborne on that thing? C4 suspensions are so stiff that who knows what could happen, what if they crack your spring?

And dont worry, I am always respectful and polite (to everyone), they just liked yelling at me because I worry they might do something to damage my car...

Well kimosabe, when you attempt to beat the crap out of someone, be prepared to have the crap beat out of you. It would be truly embarrassing climbing back into your C4 holding your privates and driving off with a failed inspection and then have to come back for a reinspection.
