Last week someone started a thread regarding the music we listened to as we drove our vettes. I have to admit that you younger guys were mentioning names of bands that I thought were the latest in body armour not rock bands.
The first time I dropped the top on my new 95 I loaded the cd player with Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge. Being born and raised in Brooklyn this man and his music was part of my childhood for as long as I can remember.
Unfortunately JM lost his battle with cancer last week and passed away. I was 46 yesterday. When I play his music around my 3 teenage sons even they would stop and say what a great voice he has dad. Sometime you would catch them humming some of his songs.
I lost a part of my child hood last week.
Thanks for letting me share this with you.
RIP...Johnny Maestro.
He had one of the best voices in the business. My wife and I saw him at a banquet hall in North Jersey a couple of years ago. Great show.
the music that I like to listen to when I drive my Vette is from late 50's and early 60's from guys like Johnny Maestro, Jay Black, Frankie Valli, Dion, the Dupress. I can go on and on.
I'm originally from Philly but some of the best oldies music came out of the North Jersey/NYC area.

Reason: sp
How about some good old Elvis Presley: Hound Dog, Are you lonesome, In the ghetto, Daddy, White Christmas (December almost here haha), or Led Zeppelin, Lynrd Skynrd, Beatles- I really love blasting "sun king" such a sweet melody, or the eagles, Jimi Hendrix there are so many.. As you can tell I come from an "oldies classics" kind of family, lol only 21 and love all of these artists and many more classics. Something about that time trumps all other ages of music, you could tell that during the playing and performing of that music that times were good.
I know this is a reactivation of an old thread but I listen to a lot of 'oldies' in the Vette. Whether it's the Beach Boys, 3 Dog Night, CCR, The Associations, The Everly Brothers, the list goes on and on.
The music and the mood goes together, classic music and classic cars.
Let the good times roll.
