Sledgehammer question.

My understanding is Reeves wanted to build a car where you essentially had a "speed ****". Instead of building a new car for every shootout just to go a little faster, they'd simply turn up the **** (the boost).
Instead they ended up using it to set a closed-course speed record.
I don't think it was ever intended as a production car, and certainly not to replace the B2K. But Callaway will build just about anything that someone will pay for. They did build a B2K with similar front mount intercoolers and whatnot, but presumably a bit more civilized than the Sledgehammer. I don't recall if it had that "100+" intake or a TPI intake, but it was close to 600hp.
They are a small company, it's no surprise they didn't have huge marketing. That said, as a kid I was quite aware of their products from magazine tests and dealer advertisements. I also recall magazine ads for large dealers like Jack Cauley Chevrolet that would list their availability of Callaways and ZR-1s in the ads.

"Mass produce" is a weird term for an 850+ hp 250+ mph car. However, I don't believe Callaway built the Sledgehammer to sell. Rather they built it to compete in the then-common top speed shootouts that car magazines had. Before that journalist from Motor Trend (I think) died, this was a very common thing for magazines to put on.

Sledgehammer Clone
Funny thing is I'm pretty sure I was up at the DOT track in Marysville the same month the Sledgehammer made its run. I was with a company marketing an anti-jackknife device for tractor trailer rigs and we were up there for two days doing testing on the skid pad.
Wish I'd been there to see it.

Ah come on Chris. You saw this one. You could park them side by side and not tell the difference.

Looks like a TPI intake to me?
When i first got it i diden't know what kind of motor was in it my dad told me about 3 diffrent motors till i learned!
Like many new vette owners i knew jack and squat!
But 3 years on Corvette forums i have soaked up much knowledge.
And know quite a bit about the car now Even tho i dont agree on Value.
When you sell a car it is your's and you can sell it for what ever you like let that be 2$ and a bottle of vodka or 500k.
On another note the Sledgehammer and the B2k callaways show what an L98 can be made into a very very buildable motor.

That seems obvious. You keep posting everywhere about TPI or about C4 values. You even posted a picture of your car in a thread about the Callaway Sledgehammer, an amazing car that is instantly recognizable because of its achievements. Your car is becoming instantly recognizable because you spam so many threads with it. I'm hoping you sell it, only so you'll move on to the C5 forums.
