None, just bolted it in the designated spot. And I don't even need one. . .I just don't have the cover for mine. It anyone has an extra front cover for an 88, let me know!

Be careful with a frame. In most states it's illegal to cover any part of a license plate. If a cop is in a really bad mood he can cite you for covering part of the plate.
Sad but true, he lives one street up and I pass his house everyday. He caught up to me at the corner convenience store in uniform and said "I sure would hate to run into you again without that front plate if you know what I mean".... message received.

What an ***, doesn't he have anything better to do? (rhetorical question)
No frame. I think a frame would make it look worse.
After I got pulled recently for the same reason I just took the plate out from behind the rear one where I found it, 2 screws and it's on. Fix it ticket was a doddle. I have the cover on display on a shelf cos it looks cool as a work of art in itself
Actually doesn't bother me now. The satisfaction of having one less thing they can stop you for far outweighs any aesthetic concerns. And it's not like it's permanent
There is a guiy named Shawn that built a lic plate that re-tracts under the car when he doesnt want it visible. Maybe he will chime in.
I saw a retractable license plate on a new Cadillac CTS-V and it look horrible. I though it was a broken bracket hanging under the car and it was flapping in the wind when he drove. I would rather have a front plate. Some are nice if they are truly not visible but the cop would still give you a ticket for having that since you were not showing it at the time and you have a trick device to trick them. They love that kind of stuff.

Texas says you have to have one facing front and back.... doesnt say where just that it needs to face front and back. My front is right behind me rear place facing forward Pissed off a few cops with that one. Its all in the wording.
