Has anybody ever seen a 85 style front end with headlights installed where the fog lights go? Would they be too low to be legal? It seems like there would be room to put some type of high low beam in there. Maybe redo the turn/park light also. Don't know if there are min height requirements tho. Just a thought.

Don't know about the legalities of it but this guy used HIDs to achieve what you are talking about...

Another thread I read said the DOT had a min of 18". I'm going to assume that is to the center of the light. The foglight center is 16 1/2 inches. So unless I put some bigger tires on the front using the foglight location for legal headlights is out.

I would not recommend it for a regular driver, or even a weekend cruiser. Now if you are a tracker, the cops will see all the numbers and other things, and most likely let you get back to your home.
I know by me they would be all over a guy not using his headlights at night.

I drive through that area to Road America and haven't had trouble. I doubt a cop would measure and notice the fog lights are two inches to low but I guess you never know. There is no doubt that these HID fogs make a LOT of light. I think they are better then the normal headlights on low beam.

AS stated, there is a minimum height for headlamps.
There is a kit that swaps out the headlamp buckets and motors for a permanently installed lamp system with a clear plastic cover. Breathless Performance has a kit but it's close to $1100

Those look really cool but $1100? Wow that's a lot. . .

Most cops would probably never think to measure, or even know the limit.
I don't think they would bother with a track day car following noise, and speed limits over the lights used.

I know a lot of cops and they are just about as clueless on most laws as anyone could be.
Their universal solution to their lack of knowledge is to write a ticket for anything they are the least bit unsure about or unclear on.

That kit is on backorder. Not expected for at least 4 weeks.
