Just Venting.
Why are some Corvette owners so, Ignorant?
Today, my wife and I dropped her Jetta off at the VW dealer to have a TPMS sensor checked out.
I drove my 91 Vette and parked, While there a guy wearing a C4 jacket asked about my Vette and said, he had a 96. Thinking I would have a nice conversation about our Vette's he then told me his 96 was the first year with the Independent Suspension and the C5 and C6's didn't even have it and proceeded to explain to me what the independent suspension was.
I said, all Vette's from 63 to present have independent suspension. He then said, his Vette wasn't made out of Plastic and I said C4 Vette's are made out of SMC Sheet Mold Composite and he just shook his head in disagreement and said that's not from what he's read. Then, I realized he clearly had no clue of what he has.
By now, I was looking around for Camera's because I thought I was being Punked or something!
Luckily, my wife called me over because the manager was done with the paperwork. What a way to start off the weekend!...

Sounds like he may have just gotten the car, wearing a Corvette jacket and all.
When I run into guys like that with Corvette attitude and no brains, I usually ask them about torque flight injectors, or anti-diesel valves and if his have ever been changed. If I get a yes answer to that nonsense, I know for sure.

I actually had the exact opposite of this happen this morning at the bank. The parking lot was full so the wife ran in while I circled and waited for a spot to open up. I found a spot and parked and waited for her. First I had a middle aged dude walk past and ask if the $50,000 question. I told him "No, more like $7500." He looked shocked so I told him a little about C4's he said he had always wanted a Corvette but never bothered to look because he thought they were much more expensive. He actually said he was going to go home get online and start looking for a C4.
Then an older dude (mid 70's probably) walked up and said he had a 454 C2 in college and had always owned a Corvette after that, said he has owned every generation except a C1. He said him and his wife sold their C6 a couple of years ago to buy an RV. Then he offered to trade me for his Malibu SS. I got excited, and then he told me it was a 2000something. He said he got it because it was an SS but it doesn’t have the power to get out of its own way. Then he ranted about SS used to mean something and what the hell was GM doing putting it on a front wheel drive $h!Tbox It was pretty cool to talk to him.

My ex used to get so mad at me when I would say people are stupid, arrogant, and self centered.I guess she thought I was speaking about her. Uh, maybe I was.
To the OP.
This also describes a whole lot of vette owners. Sometimes I wish I had known that before I bought one.
But I actually think it has more to do with statement number one so I'll just ignore the ignorant ones. But it's getting harder and harder.

It's not so much IQ. It's having the ability, drive, determination, and attitude to not be an ***, while having the ambition to put IQ to use for something other than exercising ones ignorance.
