Thanks, Jeff! The 3rd brake light on my car was added by a previous owner, as mine's an '84 model. How hard is it to remove the light? Will that fiberglass piece detach from the rest of the hatch glass?

I think the piece the light is mounted to is bonded to the glass. The light uses torx screws to mount it to the metal piece so it's easy to take off. To mount in a earlier car I guess you could just drill holes in the other piece and mont it.

Gotcha. I think somebody probably just drilled two holes in my original panel. I haven't looked at it too closely, but it would probably be pretty easy to fill the holes before I paint the car.

That plate it mounts to is metal I think and not fiberglass.

I put a new-to-me scratchless rear hatch glass on to cover the barb-wire marks in mine. I had already painted the car and when I tried to remove that fiberglass piece ( since it was newly painted and matched!) I couldn't. At least I stopped when I thought I was gonna break it!

Even better. Weld the holes up, and it'll be just like new. I always worry about covered-up holes coming back through in fiberglass, since it seems different materials expand and contract differently. I've seen several Corvettes fixed during the bodywork stage, and no matter how well they are prepared, the holes always start showing again after a few years of being painted.

Today I had the day off and walked by the 90 and really got fed up with the way the back of it looks. So I bought some high built primer and tested a few areas and it does an excellent job of filling imperfections. Tomorrow I will probably finish sanding the back of the car and prime it. I'm not looking for show quality I just want this car all one color and later down the road it will get a new paint job and I figure whats the sense spending a lot on paint right now with 1,000.00 registration fee's due and don't even know how the car will drive.

So just do a decent paint job on the back so it looks 1/2 way presentable when driving lol and once it proves to be a reliable car then it will get a complete paintjob.

Can't wait to see it one color. The weather just started to break around here so I have been working on mine as well. Getting it road ready.

Even if the white is a bit off it has to look better then all these colors. I bought some code 10 arctic white to test in a spray can but it was way of from what the rest of my white parts are. Guess I have to remove a couple white parts to have it matched more closely. Perhaps my white parts on the car were re-sprayed at some point as well who knows.

so far the car has only been sanded with 220 grit and this high build primer easily covered up the sanding marks. When the car proves to be reliable a professional can perfect the car.

I am in the process of finishing the areas where the holes were for the previous owners spoiler. I think the 1/4 panels are warped for how they installed it because they are extremely hard to get flat again.

Hey guys, after seeing vettes mod'ed with stripes etc. etc. .... they all look the same and I am almost considering not using the 91-96 rear bumper. I have pretty much worked out all the bugs of making wide molding fit where thin molding was.

I still dislike the thin molding however, so what do you guys all think ... stay with the 90 bumpers and mod them with wide molding? I see 84-90's all updated and just want mine to look different.

here is a 90 rear bumper with wide molding. Of course the doors will have wide molding and 95 front fenders used.

What did you decide to do with the bumpers?

Decided my 82 bumpers look better and started working on that vette LOL. Everytime I open the garage door and see my 82 vette I quickly forget about the 90 hahaha

FYI

The third brake light housing is a cast piece. Not fiberglass. It bolts to the hatch glass assembly. The painted part of the hatch assembly is metal as well.
