I saw a flat black Lexus as well as a flat black S-10 truck today...
I am all for the theory of to each his own and do what you want with your own car (there are plenty of people who don't like what I do to my cars) but in my opinion, it is hideous on anything other than an old hotrod with very very few exceptions.
.
Hate to say it but to take a nice car and go out of your way to make it look...well NOT nice I dont get. Add a big dark stripe down the middle then it will look like a skateboard with grip tape. Maybe for a racecar but a street car looks like a kid got ahold of it and butchered it.
Thanks guys for all the advice....still debating. Some of those flat blacks look great, but so does the shiny and shiny makes the wife happy. You guys all know if the wife is happy I am happy.
my car could use a paint job and will need one until i am able to paint it properly. but i think with painting a car flat black will narrow down your future buyers to upcoming stars of the jersey shore. even then it might be too tacky for them. like previously mentioned it was a terrible fad that went out a few years ago. i am not a waxer but i am also not one for doing **** to a rather expensive car that you would see on a ragged out honda.
Long story short is that like pretty much any other modification of this magnitude it is very polarizing. People either love it or hate it (like me) for the most part. If it's your car and you are deciding whether or not to do it you only need to ask 1 person... yourself. Any other opinion is worthless.
As far as Corvettes are concerned, the only one on here so far that I could stomach is the Greenwood car and ONLY because I could see it as a track car (mainly because it reminds me of mine). That same car as a street car... not so much. In the exact same way, I love the way my 96 looks as a track car. As a street car I wouldn't like it.
Same goes for the C5s. The only one I have ever seen that didn't make me want to hurl was on a race track. It is the same as decals/stickers, wings, body kits, and all of the other random crap. It can look good, but only in the right context.

I typically hate flat black cars because they look unfinished to me however this car looks so sinister and badd I can not help but love it. The no frills no chrome monochromatic flat black paintscheme is executed perfectly from the wheels to the body.... the only thing I would do is tint the tail, marker, and running lights. I would also fix the exhaust it appears to be hanging way too low and possibly hit that with some flat black
The only type of buyer I can think of that would buy something all flat blacked out is a kid or someone wanting a track/parts car.
It looks unfinished to me like a pair of black shoes with brakedust.
Sorry man.
This car looks nice to me but as mentioned in a few posts it needs touching up. The Flat black look ssexy as hell. WHile the greenwood car looks pretty good the added flares and body package is very very tacky and really steals from the stock c4s lines. The fender modification on the front fenders with the screen mesh is hideous. Stock panels look WAY better. The exhaust does hang way too low as well. As good as it looks I dont think I'd ever do it on my c4.
Another vote here for the satin black (it's not flat black) look. Smart comment re the polarising effect on people.
I think it suits the C4 waaay more than C3. C5 who cares. C6 definitely. C4 has far more of a mad max quality about it
Would do it to mine if the gloss wet look black it came with didn't look so good!
