I seem to lose the ability to accelerate on my 92 auto.
In town driving around 30-35 mph the car drives fine. When I hit the Highways I floor it and the car starts to tremble ,shake,surge back and forth.
Check the cats. With the car warmed up and idling, CAREFULLY check to see if the pipe temps seem roughly equal upstream and downstream of the cats. If hotter upstream, cats are partly plugged.
How many miles on plugs, wires, etc. Is it time for a tuneup?
How clean is the air filter?
Pull codes to see if there are emissions systems issues.
easy fix... cut exhaust after manifolds, remove excess. Then replace manifold and up with carb setup. Might sacrifice fuel economy but everyone would look at you and think, man that guy gets it. He is so awesome.
seriously though, I agree with sailorsteve, he hit the nail for all my past problems/ experiences. Fuel filter has been the culprit a few times

Well I get no codes and fuel filter and air filter was replace within the last month. Plugs and wires were changed about 5-6 years ago. Maybe I will check into those.
