Default first corvette

Hi everyone, great forum here. I bought my first vette last november. It is a 1994 with six speed and only 47,000 miles. Among options it has fx3 adjustable suspension, dual power seats and is green in color. A dealer here in wisconsin had it listed for 9,995 dollars. I thought it was a great car for the price, it looks near showroom condition. I paid 9800, less than whole sale!
First impressions... Love the lt1 , it is strong with near seam less power band, by the way it all stock exvept for magnaflow cat back. Very stiff ride, hard to get in out of,. Handling is awesome except sometimes in slow corner if i put some load on it, the rear end will drastically slide out, not spin out, slide out. Any body have same experiences, I was thinking of wider back tires. Do you guys think this was a good deal? I am happy with it. thks chris

Sounds like a good deal especially with 47K miles.

Do you know what the ASR is?
Just wondering if your ASR is working. It should prevent the slide out if it is working properly, provided you have not turned it off.

I installed some Bilsteins sport shocks which made the ride a bit softer. The original shocks were much stiffer like autox shocks.

Try your FX3 in "Tour Mode" (if that's what it's still called on later models)
That will be your softest setting.

You got a good deal, not that it matters. If you're satisfied that's pretty much all that counts. I doubt wider tires would help much, it's just typical of the car. It takes a while to get to know the idiosyncracies of a new car. Congrats! Probably should post pictures of the new arrival.

Welcome, and congratulations. From a stop, making a right turn, I like to break my ***-end loose, swing it around and proceed straight ahead, with my 85. The ASR on my 92 doesn't let me do that. It kind of makes me behave.

I get the rearend slide when I hit a bump in a turn, maybe suspension bushings are old and hard or shocks are worn.

Older tires will lose there stickiness and can make it easier to get the rear to slide (oversteer) out. Check the pressure on the tires too, maybe too high, but I've found that (at least in my 96), it is easy to break the rear out in a turn. I'm guessing tires are just showing there age though...probably second set at 47K and I find one only gets about 25-30k out of tires...well Z-rated ones.

Have fun doing fish tailing with the old tires. Because with the new tires in may not do it anymore and besides you may not want to leave that expensive new rubber on the road.
