Man...I like everything about your interior. The gauges, color-matched seats, steering wheel, etc...
The only thing that looks a little out of place is the two smaller, round gauges in the old info center. Looks like trying to fit a round peg in a square hole.
Is the flat panel made from masonite.
All panels including the breadbox delete and gauge cluster were made with MDF and fiberglass. Panels were sanded smooth, primed and treated with a SEM texture coat before being painted.
After building the main gauge cluster (tach, speedo, oil pressure, oil temp, and water temp), I still needed a place for a voltmeter and fuel level gauge so they found homes in the center. I don't think they look out of place when you are sitting in the car.
Yours is really nice where did you get it? This is mine in my 85, I bought it like this off ebay, it came with the car. As you can see it will hold a cassette tape or a pack of smokes in the glove box.
This is my stock 84 impact resistor.
I do like the functioning glovebox much better. 150 would be a bit steep for me but that cup holder and box would be worth a c note to me.
I wonder if you could make a kit that would use the stock breadbox and hollow it out and mount over something for a functioning glovebox.... then maintain the stock look a lot love and give it some functionality many want...
I bought a delete kit for my 86 and I still have the original breadbox with the vent hose piece. it's in perfect condition. any one want to buy it? Might be able to use it for a template or experiment a bit. I have a 96 now so I don't need it and forgot to give to the new owner. Make an offer. When I had put in the delete kit I also attached a gold corvette emblem like the one on the rear of the car. I thought it looked pretty good but to each his own. Thats what makes it interesting
As soon as I see a delete panel in place of the breadbox, I think the car has been hacked up. Sorry, but I think it looks worse flat. Might as well put a piece of plywood there. The breadbox look-a-like with the hidden glove box is about the best looking one I think . The only thing is, it has absolutely no protection for the passenger. I realize the original isn't that much crash protection, but it's better than smashing into a flat non padded dash panel.
